I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times before, but I'm on a mobile so it's hard to search.... so...

Just how is the v8 to drive in the snow? I'm supposed to be driving from London to Bristol and back today but am having doubts given the weather. It will be city + motorway driving only but I'm still hesitant - any thoughts or advice anyone?

Ta in advance!

Was just a 10 mile commute for me this morning, but on various types of road, and no problems at all.

My V8V is outside my office in EC1 in the snow; can't wait to get a lovely photo this afternoon!

However I only have to get to SW1 to get home, and the roads on that journey are always fine when the snow falls; I'd imagine so long as your journey doesn't involve driving at quiet times that you'll be fine - it only really becomes an issue when the roads get less busy and the snow has time to settle.

was cursing mine in the snow last night, it was as good as useless on the bit of a hill leading to my house. had to get an x5 to tow me up.

It'd take a pretty bad day before I'd let an X5 try to tow me!

I drove my Vantage all the way through last winter. Like all rear-wheel drive cars, it will struggle going up some slopes but apart from that, it was fine.

Never had an issue so far with mine.

If conditions are particularly dodgy, use the creep function (let the clutch up gently, no accelerator. Won't stall, just creeps along at 3-4mph in first, 6mph in second etc).

Went out to the car to take a photo of all this snow... oh wait... there's none and the car just looks wet. Boring.

ETA: This was on Sunday in France though:

Tires make a big difference.

The thing is, while I have always drive high performance cars in the snow and know how to handle them, there's way too many people on the road that have no clue. With the Vantage, the consequences of someone sliding into me are too high to risk it. So I got a snow car, which I use on the days it snows and the day after. The day after is because of all these people that don't bother to clean their cars off and the flying ice can do a lot of damage (not to mention kill people, but that's a different issue).

-2 degrees, on the French motorway (speed 'limit' of 81mph...) with a girlfriend who gets cold far too easily unfortunately meant roof up. We do keep blankets in the car but that would have been too much!

What else would we use?

I even take mine out in the....whisper it....rain. It hasn't shrunk yet.

Is this bad?

Murph, looking at your garage, the Aston is the sensible car for the snow!

My bad weather alternative is the London Underground, so it will take a lot to get me into that rather than taking the car.

-2 is no problem with a hat, gloves & heated seats on wink
I keep a selection stashed behind the passeger seat smile
Only time it doesn't go out is on gritted roads.
Recent trip to Scotland, no snow but -4 at times!

Looking forward to 3800 miles round the Alps in the New Year!

I've just decided to throw in the towel; it will be public transport to work for me tomorrow; I'm in for a late one in the office and I'm not chancing driving home at 10pm when the roads will inevitably be dodgy to say the least.

Rarely use the cars for commuting into London. Driving into town is rarely any fun (even less so than using the Tube IMO).

But the car gets plenty of use in all weathers. They're pussy cats generally.
