Hi folks,

we bought an used Vantage V8 2006 model and it seems that the gas struts are lame. I assume that when the car is new,
the rear bonnet is opening by itself when pushing the small button ?
If so I think I need a pair of new ones, is there any other source than the official Aston Martin dealership ?

thanks from Germany

Doesn't on mine. You have to lift the boot after pressing the button to open.

No, the rear hatch just unlocks with the button or remote, you have to pull it up as normal.

The gas struts only ease the lift and hold the hatch in place - they don't make it go up on its own.

Same here. Nothing wrong with them.

The tailgate ends up high enough that I'm glad it doesn't swing up automatically.

It's not got the lazy lexus and BMW gadgets! You have to go to all the extreme effort of pushing it up yourself I'm afraid!

They also seem really weak on the DB9. I took mine in to get them replaced but the salesguy showed me a brand new car. Still weak.

It's a shame as often it sounds like the boot os being slammed when dropped.

As lifting the tailgate soaks everything in there when it rains, I'd rather be there to open and shut it as quickly as possible.

Ask your dealer about a revised seal arrangement...
