...For 3 years!! I won't go into the full story, a vantage may be delivered to me by the weekend that's been stood for three years. Assuming worst case scenario what's going to need to be done to get it roadworthy again??

-Discs and pads
-tyres
-battery
-belts??
-change all fluids

I know it will need a detail as the last time I saw this car it was looking decidedly grubby frown

Then to how much it's worth? It's a silver 56 plate with (I think) around 6000 miles on the clock, one owner from new.

-How much as it stands?
-How much if all that's done and it's ready to drive away?
-How much would it have fetched at auction as it stands?

-& of course how much will it cost to get roadworthy again?

TIA marc.

The very low milage is going to be offset by the no service in 3 years 35/40k at a guess

That's what I thought too, just need to be sure what needs spending before we go ahead as it may be more cost effective to let it go as is.

A very nice 10k mile car.Thats been used is better than a 5k mile car in storage, Rubbers go hard & seals go brittle could be loads of agro...IMHO

Do a little research. Offer the car to dealers in a proposed part exchange, that will establish its trade value. Assume that they will need a profit less a bittle bit of over allowance in what you are purpoting to buy. Hey Presto that is what is worth. Regards Rob.

I nearly bought a similar sports car after a bit of reseach decided against it
You need consider the effect of stuff like;
Dried our seals in the brake system (sticking pistons in calipers?)
Condensation in all the major fluids
Grease that has dried hard (gear selector)
Integrity of software in ECU's after periods of low voltage (I lost an airbag ECU due to this)

Moreover, has it had any of the campaigns done under warranty?

What it will cost to recommission will depend what's wrong with it. Just the stuff you've mentioned is going to be 1500-2000 I reckon. But I think it'll be an easier sell if you fix it up and get some mileage under it's belt (say 2k) to give some degree of confidence it's not going to blow anything serious.

As mentioned above, even when running properly the lack of service history will hurt the value too. If someone offered you 35k I'd snatch their hand off if I were you. As it currently is, I'd guess on getting much less. But how much will depend on finding someone motivated enough to take it off your hands frown

Price will also be very dependent on colour, interior and specification, regardless of mileage / lack of service history etc etc

I have just purchased a 2007 V8V with 3800 miles on the clock ( I will probably only do about 5K per annum) and reading some of the replies got me kind of worried.

It has a full service history and as part of the deal it has just been serviced at Murray Motor Company in Edinburgh prior to collection which was supposed to be yesterday if I can get my car out the garage that is !!

Is there anything I should be wary of considering the low mileage ?

it will have all the new car niggles that are usually fixed by the 1st or 2nd service under warranty

stiff gearchange
squeaky brakes
squeaky belts

etc

Should all be under Aston warranty no probs

other than that, expect a lot more depreciation if you use it a lot as it levels out with other 2007 cars with 30K miles on

get it serviced and get out and enjoy it smile

I've had a couple of cars that I've left for 3 years or so without using them, just keeping the battery topped up with a smart charger, but haven't ever noticed any long-term problems.

The brakes on the last one had rusted up a bit, so weren't too good right away, but the car passed an MoT because both the brakes on each axle worked badly! After a few miles, they sorted themselves out. It just takes a bit of common sense, a normal service, change of brake fluid, and everything should be OK.
