those security fob things
Discussion
both my fobs have packed up again so every time i'm out the red light comes on the dash and then i have to pull over to send a bloody text back with a pin.
has anyone done away with the fobs in favour of your mobile doing the job??? i remember the guy in the showroom telling me this was possible but can't remember how he said to do it.a bit of advice here would be much appreciated.
cheers in advance

In theory you just call them up and it's all done on the phone in a few minutes. Although after hanging onto the phone for exactly 15:00 minutes at 1pm to try and do this I gave up and will be trying again tomorrow.has anyone done away with the fobs in favour of your mobile doing the job??? i remember the guy in the showroom telling me this was possible but can't remember how he said to do it.a bit of advice here would be much appreciated.

just out of warranty!!!
I think there's a timer in the fobs to detect that The Eurowatch solution is better provided you always have your phone with you. I think you can have up to 3 phones matched so if your OH drives the car or you have a spare phone you can include those too.

Only prob i came across is that they only work on less modern phones. Not android things.
Works with my HTC Desire which is Android, though my current car is a MY2010. Maybe a car firmware update would help ?notax said:
Why not just buy a new fob? With a broken fob do you have to phone every time you use the car?
It's done over bluetooth, not a phone call.notax said:

You have to send a txt every time you move the car more than a couple of hundred meters. The txt warning system is not always responsive enough for you to get your reply text back in time.. in which case you end up getting a call from them. You also need to repeat this process if you stop for fuel etc.Unfortunately you can only get through to bond your phone during work hours Monday to Friday as it's a different department than the one which deals with alerts.
Which basically means if you go to work or commute (as I do) their best and quite frankly limp wristed response is.. can you call during 9-5:30 Mon-Fri..... Which I find the poorest level of service incomprehensively possible.
I find this completely infuriating, and have wasted more time than I care to mention trying to get this to work on the phone to them.
What is more annoying is the fact I have the phone supposedly bonded... they can see it when they request a bond.. but it seeminly does not find on engine start and you get the annoying red light which you can't do anything about BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT OPEN YET! and end up having to walk away knowing you'll have to put up with the same BS on the way home.
Do I sound frustrated!
I'm more tempted to move insurance to another provider that does not require a tracker as I can get this done during the day, rather than attempt to deal with a company which I personally find impossible to deal with.
