Aston Martin’s new luxury city car; Cygnet – which will go into production in 2011 – has made its global debut at Harrods. You can view this ultra-compact, high luxury city car for the very first time in our Brompton Road windows now. Cygnet will be available to view at Harrods until Saturday 11th December with the car currently on sale through Aston Martin’s European dealership network.

About Aston Martin Cygnet
Aston Martin's characteristic design language is clearly referenced in Cygnet’s compact two-door body. Signature details like the famous aluminium grille, side strake and inverted rear lights create a distinguished, neatly-proportioned form and a discretely stylish statement. Painted, trimmed and assembled by the same technicians and craftspeople that create Aston Martin’s award-winning range of sports cars, Cygnet is the ultimate way to explore the contemporary city.

Cygnet is highly appropriate for the environment for which it has been designed. With ample performance and manoeuvrability for urban use, it is light, compact and fuel-efficient yet also capable of carrying up to four people, all while providing Aston Martin's accomplished levels of luxury, comfort and quality. Cygnet, the tailor fit solution for the city, will help drive Aston Martin into an exciting future.

The Aston Martin Cygnet will go into production in 2011 at the company’s global headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire in England. The car will be the eighth major production car Aston Martin has introduced at its state-of-the art facility since 2004, offering further evidence of the company’s ongoing commitment to British manufacturing, backed-up by a dedicated local workforce and supplier network.

it's genius. If it means Aston will be able to continue to produce cars that drive as well as their current line up, then it's fine by me.

It's a £50,000 Toyota IQ - and you can only buy one if you already own an Aston smile

I think this too. Moreover, it's the best piece of body kitting I've ever seen in my life. Not at all Barry. Especially the wheels.

I hope Aston sell thousands of them. Yep. Get the brand out there to the masses. And Harrods shop window too! The very best place to sell things.

Unlike every other Aston, it doesn't look like every other Aston.

Sadly (for Aston anyway) in this case, that's not a good thing. But it'll sell to rich daddies girls and those a little light on the loafers who consider a MINI too butch.

Exactly.
Why people seem so upset about it is beyond me? I imagine they feel it somehow erodes the mystique around the Aston brand? Therefore it's probably only a major concern to current, particularly image conscious owners. There are shades of the 'Tickford metro' about it but I don't recall that having a lasting negative effect on what remains to be, quite possibly, the coolest brand in the world.
