Hi everyone, my first post in the Aston forum..
I spend half of my life in the porsche one..

I currently drive a 996 turbo which is amazing although after 10 years of porsche, I fancy a change.
I drove a manual 4.7 v8v cab manual last year and loved it.

I have been browsing the ads and came across this which looks close to ideal:
http://pistonheads.com/sales/2111315.htm

Does anyone know the car?
It is not far off my ideal spec (i would prefer black), and the price is attractive-ish.
Is there anything potentially wrong with it? or with the dealer?

Thanks in advance,
Eric.

Don't know the car, but it looks fantastic! Pretty much the perfect spec IMO - it's got everything you'd want, and nothing you don't want (apart from not having clear rear lenses perhaps).

I think TOP555 have a good reputation, but again I've no experience with them.

Like you I'm looking to get into a V8V after a long time with Porsche - if that was a coupe and five grand less I'd be on the phone straight away!

It's been on here for a while
Good spec and similar to mine(even had the boot badge removed)
Sportspack is worth waiting for IMHO
I paid less for a very similar spec & age from an AM dealer.
I reckon that should be sub £70k.

My 4.7 roadster is in the classifieds at Sratstone in Wilmslow. I think similar spec/colour. Fantastic car, see my profile pics its still on there. I think also a very fair price. PM if you need any questions answered.

Really great looking car. Le Manoir if I'm not mistaken wink
Seems to be the cheapest 4.7 in the AM dealer network. Has to be better value than the TOP555 one, plus it's got known provenance!

Mrs Topaz, thank you..
Is it this one:
http://pistonheads.com/sales/2220657.htm

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems as if it does not have the sport chassis nor the 700w stereo upgrade?
Not sure how important these are for an AM?

Nonetheless a beautiful car.

Yup thats mine.

You know what! I honestly have no idea re the stereo, if I needed it, it always sounded great to me. With 22 removed or roof off I never listened to the radio. No, no sportspack but again that didnt worry me.

What you do get is a full armourfend treatment and when it left me the paintwork was 100% faultless. Not one chip, I treated this car like baby for over a year. It was and still is a very good example and as I say I think good value.

When I px'd it I expected £72,000 on advice from someone at Gaydon. I didnt get that but from my trade in price bearing in mind it will have had its second service and a warranty they are making bugger all on it.

The rear lights by the way if you like them were a £1,000 swap by Rick at Derby Motors.

Really think you should consider this car. Those on here will confirm I am a fussy perfectionist.

trouble is I don't think i would buy an amv 4.7 v8 cab without the sport chassis or a great stereo so important in such car.

I have no vested interested in the car as it is now out of my hands.

I firmly believe that a car has to feel just right. That one did to me and I was right.

Good luck with your search. thumbup

FYI, those are the same wheels I have. They are the upgraded non-sportspack wheels. They happen to be very nice.

The first car was previously owned by a PH member who was good enough to pass me the details when I was looking for an N400.

He provided a great recommendation for both the car and dealer.

IMHO, don't expect too much from the 700w Stereo - hasn't quite been what I'd hoped for [though in fairness I've not had time to scoure manual to learn how to adjust it / use it properly].

Both cars have had owners who know about and love these cars, so should be safest bets around.

Test drive them both if feasible!

Good luck.

TBH, if you think a 'great' stereo is so important, you're buying the wrong car! I hardly ever switch mine on and, when I do, the standard system is good enough, given the imperfect listening environment that is a car.

Sport chassis though - thumbup

I was adamant I wanted a good stereo and hunted out a roadster with sports pack and 700W. Initially the 700W stereo was a let down. But after using the setting posted on AMOC it transformed it.
Having said that if its not raining and the roads are interesting the roof goes down and the stereo off! smile

While I have not spent time with the standard stereo, I find the 700W stereo superb. Settings make a BIG difference. Nonetheless, I do listen to the engine far more than the stereo.

Having picked mine up yesterday with the standard stereo, it is amazing me quite how good it actually is for a standard one - I am more than happy having previously worried that it would be the one thing that I didn't like to not have in my car.

thanks everyone for the kind comments. As I said, it not only about the lack of stereo, but also the lack of sport chassis. The stereo argument is not terminal to me.

I am in the process of selling my 996 turbo and this is a fair bit more complicated than to hesitate between standard and 700w stereo...
