Morning All

After my thread about higher mileage Astons (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=70&t=924539&mid=42700&nmt="cheap" V8V's due to mileage??) I decided to go on the hunt for a V8V. I had the cash burning a hole in my pocket having sold the 997 on Monday.

I did a search on the Autotrader and PH and almost upsold myself to a 4.7 Roadster but that would have involved finance and I just couldn't bring myself to do it having not borrowed for a car in over 10 years.

So did the sensible thing, bought an entry level early 2006 car with 38k on the clock from fellow PHer dafydd2008

So for a £5600 more than I sold the 997 for (to a dealer) I got a 2 year newer Aston with the same mileage as the 997.

The noise (as you all know) is amazing and so much better than the Porsche. Dafydd had kindly already removed fuse 22 - thanks for that! And he was a real gentleman - I was desperate to take the car there and then, so we rushed to nearest bank to get a bankers draft before the bank closed (it was a Saturday) to find the bank had been evacuated due to a fire!! Nooooooo. He bought me a coffee and eventually we were allowed into the branch. Security checks and a bit of waiting around, I eventually got the draft and the car was mine. Only problem being I had driven there on my own in the Rangie.

Dafydd kindly offered to drive the car back to mine and I then gave him a lift back, all this and he was running to take the dog to the vets (hope you made it in time!)

Massive thanks to Rick at Derby Motor services for calling me straight back to talk about the car and to Dafydd for being a true gent (I'll look after her for you)

Congrats, and welcome to the club. Looks lovely, just like mine! So much more soul than the porch. Treated mine to a 10 hour detail yesterday, beautiful machines.

Thanks

Out of interest, how much should you expect to pay for the detail? Was thinking of having one done myself, although maybe better to wait until the spring when the weather is better

Enjoy it as i am sure you will and let me know how you get on with the sports pack.
I suppose I had better join the 'Smart' car section!

I use Scott from OCD based just outside Bolton, but will travel (http://www.obsessivecardetailing.co.uk). The full paint correction and seal is a 10 hour job which he normally charges £350, not cheap but IMO it's worth it. He did knock of £50 for repeat business and doing 2 other cars the day before. The paintwork is now like glass with no swirls etc. Good excuse to post some pics of the finished article woohoo

That looks gorgeous and worth every penny of £350. Especially as your car is the Best colour for Aston!

I think I will wait until the new year to do mine though. I will be using the car as my daily drive and in this weather, trying to keep the car clean is a blimmin' nightmare

I too came from a 997 and have just joined the AM fold.... Had my roadster for a month - and it got picked up today for detailing, paint correction etc.. Also having a small paint crack on the front lip sorted so will be gone fro 5 days, coming back on Friday... Can't wait to get it back and get it dirty again!!!
