Discussion
My new V8 Vantage Sportshift Roadster in Glacial Blue/Sandstorm.
Pictured alongside my previous Audi S5 Cabrio
Car is October 2009, 2863 miles on the clock, spec as follows:
09/59 - Sport Shift, Glacial Blue, Atlantic Blue Hood, Sandstorm / Caspian Blue Hide, Caspian Blue Carpets, Gun Metal Fascia, Silver Brake Calipers, Front PDC, Bright Finish Grille, HID Headlamp-Wash and Leveling, Heated Front Seats, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, Battery Conditioner, Sat Nav, Wind Deflector, Memory Seats and Mirrors, Bluetooth, 19” 20 Spoke Silver Diamond Turned Alloys.
I can pick it up as soon as my number plate has transferred off my Audi which should be within 2 weeks, if I get it sent on Monday!
Naturally just a little bit excited...

A question for anybody who knows, about the Valves.
The car is going in for a service on Tuesday, where it is having one minor problem fixed and having it's 1 year service before collection, however the dealer also offered to have the valves "opened" included in the price.
What I understood by this is that the car will make the full noise in low revs as it usually does over 4000rpm, so not the same thing as pulling the fuse 22 thing (not that I entirely understand that either although will do further reading).
Now my question is that my father believes it may be possible to have it making the full noise through the revs in Sport mode but quieter when in Comfort mode, can anybody tell me any more about this before the car goes in on Tuesday, as I'm really not sure at the moment what if anything I actually would like to have done to it.
Many thanks

Dealers usually "open" the valves by disconnecting the vacuum lines that close the valves in the exhausts. The method is different from pulling fuse 22, but the result -- as far as what you hear -- is the same, since in both cases the valves are always open (fuse 22 controls those valves). The downside is that you lose a little low-end torque due to the decreased exhaust back pressure. Sport and Comfort refer to the Sportshift gearbox modes -- nothing to do with the exhaust.

Do you think it's still worth doing? I'm really not sure because presumably it will start making quite a lot of noise at motorway speeds. why didn't you just put your plate from the Audi on retention (transfer can be done once the retention document comes through) and pick up the Aston today .......why wait? ......great car......enjoy !
I can't sell the Audi until it has been assigned a 10 plate and I can't buy the Aston until I've sold the Audi - money, nowhere to put both etc. And not to mention the Aston is going in for its 12 month service tomorrow (Tues). Unless there's some other way of doing it, the Audi can't go anywhere until the V5 is back with me to sell to the new buyer - although I may get lucky and find a buyer who will take it off me and accept me sending them the V5 asap.lady topaz said:

No worries, yes I think it should be ok, hopefully the newer buyer would be happy - I've had a few offers so am expecting it to be quite quick and have prepared a sale agreement so they know they get the car with a generic plate on it when issued. All subject to finding an actual buyer of course!Enjoy your new car when you get it....it look fantastic
Saw this video on youtube a while back. Shows how simple it can be to take it out.

ETA: Deposit taken for old car, buyer agreed to complete transaction prior to V5 being returned and deal with the rest later. Dealer has agreed to Saturday collection; therefore a mere 5 days to wait!! Roll on a countdown in hours starting at 118 hours...
