As I still have no iPod connectivity in my 06 Vantage I occasionally google to see if something has come out and today I found this:

http://www.icarkits.com/cars/AstonMartin_Vantage_2...

Cant find a UK supplier though, anyone heard of them or even used them. The article seems very specific to the Vantage and the 6 CD headunit I have, although its only 3.5mm jack in and does not use the ipod connector but the headphone connector so no charging frown

I know a guy at Wilmslow that can retrofit Ipod kits. I'm sure a few dealers can do this.

The Works Service website says they'll do it for a horrendous fee of £995 + VAT.

Sorry for the slight thread jack, but am I right that an October 2009 car will have an iPod connection already?

Anything 08my on has an integrated Ipod connection (There's a flip top arm rest if your not sure). The guy I've heard of does the same kit as Works but for a lot less. Might be worth asking around the dealer network or some of the specialists.

As per Rick.

James' charges I believe, and he can also plug other stuff in at a price.

600+ is still a bit rich for me for the amount of times it's been a problem.

And me. I wonder how much the parts are an how is the labour charge.

If it was sub £400 I could be interested.

To be fair to Paralight, the only places I've ever seen the adapters they've been within 50 quid of their fitted price.

I'm absolutely positive the box of electronics can't cost more than 20 quid to make, but that's never the point with tech gear. The price will be what they believe the market can stand (and will also, no doubt, go through about 15 intermediaries before it gets to the end customer).

Like you, at 400 quid I'd seriously consider it. 200 quid (the cost of a decent head unit) and it's a no brainer.

600 quid's too much, so I'll continue with my mix CDs, Griffin iTrip and the radio.

I just couldn't justify £600+ for an integrated iPod controller (let alone a grand from AM) so took a punt on a Griffin iTrip FM transmitter. Made a small mod with a bit of copper wire and a soldering iron ti improve the signal strength (quick google search will show you what to do) and for £30 quid I have great sound albeit without the stereo control. I just slap on a playlist, stick the ipod in the glovebox and forget about it. If you get the RDS version it even transmits song titles to the stereo display.

PS The box itself is called a MOST gateway.

The entertainment electronics on the Aston are fibre optic. The gateway plugs into the loop and fools the head unit into think it's a CD changer. AIUI the end result isn't 100% intuitive with respect to the way the iPod is controlled, but it should sound excellent.

I believe it's possible to plug all sort into the MOST loop.

I have a 2007 V8 Vantage. It, of course, didn't have iPod connectivity when I bought it new. I waited about 2 years and Aston Martin offered an upgrade kit. I took my car to my dealer in Illinois and he ordered and installed the kit. It cost me about $1,200. After 3 hours of install, including a new infotainment display, the unit works flawlessly. It is completely integrated with the infotainment display including full iPod menu control and I have full separate audio settings. I know the cost may seem high but you get the type of system and functionality that is present on the 2008 and newer cars. In my opinion it's worth it to not have to compromise on the operation or functionality.
