Just had prices for various upgrades to my 07 v8v.
Ive owned just over a year, but now want a face lift or change to 4.7 model.
Sports pack wheels £3,200.
Front/rear splitter £2,720.
n400 sills £1,400.
Rear clear lights £1,000.
Seems for the money,im getting a good bit of kit and options
for resale.
Dont think eight grand + mine would get me a 4.7 model.
Thoughts Please.
Thanks.

well you never get the money back for the mods...all you get is a car thats a bit easier to sell to someone who wants all the mods, so maybe a small premium over similar model
so its kiss goodbye to £8K to refresh your car and (hopefully) keep you interested a bit longer
personally, ive done this a number of times before, and once the new look/power novelty wore off, I was ready for a car change anyway
If I had a car I intended to keep forever (many years, say >10) then Id do the mods because I just wanted them, but if you really hanker after that new model, then save the £8k towards it IMO

I have completed the above mods on my vehicle.
Firstly, get the sports pack suspension, and the engine upgrade- its adifferent car with it- not that easy to find a 4.7 with sportspack and if you do i suggest it will cost you 15-20K to swop it.
Whilst i doubt i will get the full money back for the mods at least i have the 15-20K in the bank, and the newer, more expensive car will depreciate more
Proper Aston ugrades enhance the look of the car and make it look like anew one- if i were a SH buyer I would want that and pay apremium for it

I would still recommend upgrading to a 4.7 with sports pack, not only do you get the much gruntier 4.7 engine and better handling of the Sport Pack, but you also get better interior/functionality.
Better still try a 4.7 Roadster for an all new experience!
thats the decision I made after test driving a 4.7 Roadster ...save my cash for a new car rather than spend £10k reviving my £35K 55K mile old one Better still try a 4.7 Roadster for an all new experience!
I would recommend to anyone before spending £4-5K on 20bhp engine mods, go and drive one, and see if you think it delivers first
everyone has different expectations, personally ive put 20bhp on a 750kg Elise before for £1500 and not been impressed, so £4K for 20bhp on a 1.5 ton car, dosent leave me feeling like ive got VFM really
I'm hoping to get in a V8 in the next 18 months or so (wedding allowing) and I've been thinking along the same lines.
I'd rather, I think, spend £40k on a car and £8k in making it look like a 4.7 than get the 4.7 based on the premium. Obviously, money allowing, I'd get the later car but am I right in thinking that the 4.7s are going to be far fewer in number?
The "cheaper" (it's not a great term) 4.7s are still way up there in the £60k/£70k bracket.

Secondly, any one who cant tell the amazing difference between a sports pack and non sportspack car needs to approach a roundabout at speed and compare the responses of the two.
Yes get a 4.7 with sports pack but that is 20K more.

Get the Prodrive engine upgrade, I have it and it's tasty.
I looked at and tried the prodrive version before I went for the AM approved one.My conclusion was that it would affect the value in a negative way and secondly the power is way up the rev range with a higher rev limit and its VERY noisy- and when you run it in stealth mode the power drops- as was noted by the evo test team.

Totally agree but then I'm biased Better still try a 4.7 Roadster for an all new experience!
BTW is there a definative way to tell you have the Sports Pack?

Do you think prodrive will do a kit for the 4.7?
When the prodrive version came out, at thta time AM did not have their own package. The prodrive package included wheels, tyres spingsand dampers for the 4.3. It was a big improvement but quite hard- the adaptable suspension was either to hard or not just right
Then aston came along with new antirole bars, springs dampers and new lower wishbones- this was a fully enginered upgrade.
So in answer to your question I would not consider a prodrive upgrade.
I think the AM official power pack is a good VFM, well sorted upgrade (as it should be, from the factory)
...unlike some other fudges ive seen
I always find it amusing when some outfit offers "remaps" then I ask to see the real time mapping "oh we dont have access to the ECU we send it away to someone who does" ...eerrr...yeah ...right...someone who tells you they do eh
//sorry, im just a bit cynical sometimes...spent months on/in rolling road tinkering and tuning over the years ...thankfully the AM world dosent attract tooooo many cowboys
..and yes the sportpack does what it says on the tin too for the money, im not knocking what it does, but for many the std setup is adequate. I just know myself, that in the past, Ive really wanted to upgrade a car to a faster/later model, instead conned myself into thinking I will be happy spending some money upgrading it, then 3 months later changed it anyway....and given the new owner a well kitted out car for a bargain price...thats just my own personal thing that I intend not to repeat on the Vantage, I will save up for my 4.7 Roadster
