Perhaps Rick or other experts could advise. I've noticed a whining noise, which varies in pitch with the revs but only when engaged in gear (which implies it's not emanating from the engine). It sounds like it comes from the engine bay, but perhaps the transaxle also. It disappears once the engine is at operating temperature. I had the additive put in the gearbox oil at the last service to rectify the stiff gear change when cold, but I've only noticed this noise more recently. No indications of a slipping clutch. Any ideas would be welcome. I have a few months remaining on the AM warranty, so if something is about to blow up I'd like to get it rectified sooner than later. Thanks.

I know you said only in gear, but it sounds like belts to me.

does the noise change when depressing the clutch, if it comes and goes as you press the clutch it may be the clutch release bearing possibly spigot bearing, does it make a higher pitched noise as you first engage the clutch, could be fead belt as revs drop as the clutch is engaged,so is it worse on slow speed cornering

Could be the infamous PRV, or the oil seperator valve.
