In feb this year I bought an 07 10k on the clock, v8 vantage. This is my first aston martin. In the last few months I have found what I can only describe as 'whirring' noise starting to appear toweards the front of the car. It tends to be when in lower gears or even neutral when in traffick. Stratstone took it in, agreed there was a 'noise' but couldnt explain it ( i am still under warranty) i asked to be tested again and again. I gave up and took the car back. The noise has got worse and I have taken it back to Stratstone. I am now being told it might be due to brake pads and 'tightenining of the handbrake cable'. Sounds all very strange to me! Will be getting the car back in a few days supposedly fixed. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences as I have my concerns.

The best way of telling if it's the brake pads is to lightly press the pedal when the noise occurs and see if it goes away or gets louder. If it's the handbrake then slight application of the handbrake when the noise occurs will also change it.

I had that problem on my 07 V8V that ended up being the Aux belt tensioner and was a recall under warranty.

Tbh if it was the brake pads they would not make a noise if the vehicle was stationery.

Most likely it is the fead belt but may also be the power steering pump, possibly just low fluid, is it worse on slow speed cornering

I think I may have something similar. Low gears low revs - whirring while gaining speed. Sounds like low volume power steering pump that I've heard on previous cars but I'm travelling straight forward, no turning.

Reported to AM who replaced belts under warranty but I heard it again the other day, seems intermittent on mine.

Let me know if you resolve the issue
