Hands up anyone that's got the Marks & Spencer Aston Martin DVD. Right, pop it in and go to the "DB9, from the drawing board to the road" section. During the bit showing the guys creating the clay DB9 concept there's a shot of a silver v8 Vantage "speedster" in the background. Looks like a full scale model, but I've never heard anything about it. It looks superb (even though I'm a coupe man through and through), with twin speedster humps behind the cockpit. The proportions suit a rag-top perfectly.

I seem to remember reading a while back (when the v8 concept was in the mags) that a soft-top version wasn't planned. Personally, it the production version looks like this silver concept, Aston would be mad not to make it.

Anyone know any more?

Are you sure it's a soft top and not a permanent open top for the American market?

It could be a permanent open top. although I'd have thought this would limit its market appeal. I guess you can get away with no roof at all if it's a seriously low volume car like the recent Zagato Vanquish. It looked to me like the roof would stow under the speedster "humps".

Sure it isn't the DB AR1 limited edition car that was around last year? See the AM DB AR1 CONCEPT thread for a pic.

I don't have the DVD so I'm only guessing...

No, not the DB AR1. I noticed that quite a while ago. A bit of a faux pas, non?

Definately not the DB AR1. I must admit, I was suprised Aston "passed" the DVD with this footage. Unless they don't intend to show the concept....and that would be a real shame.

You're right. Its not the AR1. It IS some sort of V8 Vantage Speedster.

Well done for spotting it. It also mean,s of course that they'll be a V8 Vantage Volante as well
