"cheap" V8V's due to mileage??
Discussion
Evening all
I'm currently looking at entry level V8V's just becuase they seem so cheap. I've got a 2004 997 that I've been offered £31k for by a dealer (could probably get 3-4k more than that privately) so for an extra couple of grand I could walk into a 2006 V8V
Looking at the ads on here, the only problem I can see is the mileage of these cars - 40-50k miles.
Personally I don't see that as an issue, but are Aston's really that sensitive to mileage?
I do about 15k a year, do a 50k car would have 80k on in 2 years - would that be unsaleable??
Thanks for your input, hoping to be an Aston driver soon.....

Not unsaleable, but might make a dent in it's value. Thanks for your input, hoping to be an Aston driver soon.....
IMO not really a 15k a year car, if you're asking and all that............
Use my 997 as an everyday car and used my TVR Tuscan as an everyday car (well most days anyway, not in snow etc) so would expect to use this as a daily drive.
Purely my opinion , mine has 20k on the clock, I wouldn't have even considered a 40k car. I have an OCD mental block at 50k, so for me 80k would be out of the question. But everything has a price.
I have a shed for doing uneventful work miles. Might take the big fella to work tomorrow though.

I also have sensible insurance from Bell... same price per anum as my 2007 MY BMW Coupe 2.0D m-sport pack!
The appeal will always be for low mileage cars, I would not put anybody off a higher mileage car just because of the mileage, The VH Chassis cars are reliable I am not seeing any concerns relating to just mileage or expensive failures, If a car has been maintained and looked after this would the main criteria I would look for, A high mileage abused car will be quite evident, I am seeing many owners using their cars daily do in excess of 10000 miles a year and loving it and paying little more than the owners doing less than 5000 miles in servicing costs, I have a V8 Vantage I see that has now done just under 98000 miles it is a hire car and it has been abused every day of its life and it does show, it has missed servicing and advisories have been ignored and still the only failure it has had was the power steering pump recently, That one car without many other examples I could state prove to me what an outstanding car these are and will stand the test of time and how ever you choose to use yours it will do the job admirably,

Agree with the first pointIMO not really a 15k a year car, if you're asking and all that............
Disagree with the second
There are several daily drivers on here
Mine had done 14k miles in a year when I collected it as a result it was ~£10 cheaper than the nearest same spec car. It's since done another 5k in 4 months. No problems what so ever!
As Rick says cars get abused with low & high mileage.
I am glad I have the armourfend on though

i've had mine from new(07) and have done 35000 miles in it.it's never let me down once, the clutch is still the original and seems to have plenty of meat left on the bone.i've put new tyres on only once in all that time and have never had any work needed outside of regular service intervals.the car drives like new and the only reason i can find to change it is to get into a db9.i think that basically it's down to the individual car rather than the mileage.(or driver, more specifically!!)

Thanks guys - really bought into getting one. Having done a bit more research following this thread, I'd be better spending early £40k's and getting one with 20 something thousand miles on it and then it should be easier to sell in 1-2 years time (or trade in for a Roadster!)
Off to see the Porsche dealer next week to sell mine....

Just wait a couple of months and get a roadster when the weather is $hit, people are spent up, cars sales are slow and convertible prices are low Off to see the Porsche dealer next week to sell mine....
You know it makes sense

It's whether I have the patience to hold off.....
When i was looking for a V8 the milage really didn't put me off, as i wanted a car to drive and enjoy, rather than sitting in a garage gathering dust!
I think with a lot of the lower milage cars, problems are going to be more apparent as a lot of the niggles are still present.
With allot of the higher milage cars the niggles etc have been found and most of the time corrected.
I originally bought mine with 20K on and now up to 38K in around 18months which i do not see as massive milage.
I am regrettably selling mine now due to a house purchase, otherwise i would quite happily drive this until it didn't go any further, which i guess is into the 6 figures etc.

I was in the same position last year. I had a 2006 997 which I was offered a decent sum for, and really wanted a V8V, so I bought a 55 plate onyx black one with just 11k on the clock. Sadly I couldnt get on with a manual car (Im so used to two pedals not 3, and do a lot of urban driving), so sold it and bought a DB9.
I am hopeful of getting into a sportshift V8 next year though, they are superb cars, and I miss the overall package the Vantage gives, but the DB9 is also a fantastic ownership proposition.
Go for it, the 997s are excellent cars and probably one of the best cars I have ever had, but the Astons have far more soul, even if they arent quite as quick point to point, but on a road, its barrely noticeable!

Not my cup of tea but OMG, how cheap??? Less than £30k for an AMV8Mind you, as a finance repo I suspect that it's been thrashed to within an inch of it's life and comes with crap service history - if they couldn't afford the payments, I doubt they would have maintained it.
