I'd gladly chip in to buy one, drive it over to Brussells, and set fire to it outside the EU HQ.

Shouldn't all Cygnets be the property of the Queen?

Not a chance Blackice. Still as you're service team are such nice guys you could stick an AM badge on an IQ and save me a deposit on a V12 Roadster. Hope your guys haven't committed to many stock models if so discounts are just around the corner.

IMHO, the cygnet is not aimed at car enthusiasts but will be more of a fashion statement for wags so that they can pose in an Aston around town.
I think it will be popular just like the ugly Cayenne is for Porsche, but will rub the true marque enthusiast the wrong way.

When I saw Dr Bez & co doing the marketing video on the AM website, I actually tried to listen in with an open mind to the reasons for putting this car in production.

Clearly, it's aimed for city use and unfortunatley, the horse already bolted long ago, but this gee gee is half way round the world. I mean, the IQ, Smart car and a whole host of "tiddlers" are already very successful in the city, why do AM think that they will get a market share with it, after all what's wrong with the new Ka, I'm sure that would also look great with the wings on it...laugh

Not sure that AM target enthusiasts at the moment. The lack of acknowledgement from other AM drivers is testament to that!

On a positive maybe the Cygnet drivers will be buying into the brand and will wave at us. I wonder how many "real" AM drivers will turn their noses up at this affront smile

I see the need for the cygnet because of eu regs, It is a shame and imo does not bring something good to the brand or image, but it is here and as such has to be excepted, From a technicians point of view I can not see many techs getting excited about servicing and looking after them, also a big part of what I enjoy is talking to the owners about their passion and the reasons for buying and some of the stories are brilliant and amazing, usually buying an Aston is more heart than head with many carrying out hours of research before deciding on which model and spec knowing the cars foibles and character traits, I can not see the cygnet fitting this description but for many as stated more of a fashion accessory, I love Aston's but I do not think I will be excited the first time one books in which for me will be the first time having a car in this workshop that does not excite me and make me smile,

Understand the rationale with the EU regs.
Don't understand the branding
EU regs take into account all brands in the group
So call it a Lagonda Cygnet, or something similar, not Aston

If I see one when I am in the Range Rover I may be compelled to ram it and destroy it!

I can see these becoming courtesy cars with all the dealers for when your proper aston is in for a service.

...because Aston Martin has the cachet, not Lagonda.

I don't want one myself but if it works for them, why not, if WAG's and similar buy it, it's not going to get me enraged. Porsche's approach is a whole lot more cynical, and that doesn't bother me either as long as they keep making the good stuff.

What I won't do is buy any old crap simply because its got an AM badge on it. But women do it all the time with D&G, Hermes, Gucci etc etc.
