OMG it arrived tonight!

After saying goodbye to the Cerbera and a bit of searching I eventually bit the bullet and plumped for a new V8V coupe. My local Aston dealer didn't cover themselves in glory by trying to sell me a couple of cars that they either didn't really have or couldn't provide at the price they initially said they could. Stalling tactics to try and source a car for me rather than me go elsewhere. It meant I missed out on my first option and nearly lost out on this one too. Fortunately the guys at Grange in Brentwood were great and put up with me delaying my decision. Thanks to those of you who replied to a few of my questions posted a few weeks ago.
In the end I went for a quantum silver manual car with sports (not lightweight) seats and sports pack. I'd only seen the car on an emailed pic but not in the flesh. My local dealer didn't have any similar coloured cars in. So it was a bit of a leap of faith but the spec ticked the boxes. As I'm at the other end of the country from Grange they arranged for it to be trailered up for me today. Should have arrived early evening but the A1 was closed and so it eventually bowled up at 11pm. Fortunately the rain had disappeared as it was rolled off the thankfully covered trailer and into the garage. Any apprehension that I had about the colour has evaporated. It looks awesome under the garage lighting and I can't wait to see it in daylight. Will probably remove fuse 22 first thing but looking to buy a remote bypass switch. Will see how that is before considering a sports exhaust. Don't think I'll be able to stop grinning for some time. Off to bed now with the manual for a bit of light reading as I'm wide awake with excitement. No doubt I'll have a few questions to follow.

Congratulations! Quantum is a great color. What is your interior color? These are wonderful cars -- many happy miles lie ahead.
Yes, I'm really pleased with the colour especially as I hadn't seen it on a vehicle previously. Looking at pics on the web wasn't all that helpful as they all looked a bit different. Interior is obsidian black with silver stiching and prism alloy fascia which I prefer to piano black. It only lacks heated seats which is no big deal (reckon I'll need to cool down when I get in anyhow !!)[quote=lady topaz Bet you have been out to the garage again this morning, just for a peek

Was back in the garage at 2am just to make sure it was still there!! And again this morning.
Was a wrench to leave for work leaving it in the dry. Will have to accept that I'll have to get it dirty at some point but it just looks soooo clean and shiny.
Photos will follow when I get a chance in daylight hours in the dry!!

Are you bringing your new arrival to The Lyngon on Sunday ?
Rob
Unfortunately not. Other end of the country!!Rob
Which exhaust though? Was edging towards Quicksilver Supersports plus (being an ex-TVR sound freak). Not sure though if it would be a bit too loud. Quicksilver suggested Supersports may be enough.
Ahh the old exhaust topic.....I bought a V8V just under 1 month ago.
Went and tested a 'standard' car and then tried one that had the 400BHP Aston upgrade and a Larini Exhaust. I did like the overall loudness of the Larini but to me it sounded a bit too much like a Ferrari and an M3 all rolled into one. In my opinion it was a bit too rattly and metallic tin sounding and not throaty enough ( which I loved from my old TVR). My personal taste was to go for the 'standard' as I liked the deeper sounding exhaust notes......my advice would be find someone who has the exhaust you are thinking of getting and go and listen to it. Don't try You Tube or the the exhaust manufactures site for clips/videos or sound clips as these just don't cut it...get yourself outside and listening to someone who has it before you buy....

I have ordered my V8 to come with a sport exhaust fitted. It is made for AM by Quiksilver. I heard a demo car start up with one on and thought YES! When we drove the car it was not intrusive. The Devil on your shoulder says "Go On". He also said "Have the carbon splitter and diffuser as well" Does it never end ?
Please keep us posted as you rack up some miles.
I have 49 days to wait

Probably not. Have to say though I'm happy with the rest of the spec just would like to optimise the sound track. Anyone in the north east with a sports exhaust to listen to? Preferably Quicksilver supersports or supersports plus. I'll also be in Brighton on 10-12 Nov, Burnley on 19th Nov and Manchester on 21-22 Nov (prob take car to Burnley and ?Manchester). So if there's anyone around with a V8V sports exhaust who is willing to meet up let me know.Rob
