Hi

Can anybody recommend a detailer in the Sheffield area?
I purchased my 3 year old DB9 four months ago.

Stratstone said the car had been detailed and a Pure Guard finish applied.

On delivery of the car I was happy with the finish. However, over the last few weeks I am sure the bonnet seems to be getting considerably duller. It also now has several ‘orange skin’ dimples – mainly on the bonnet, but I have also noticed a couple on the front wing. These look like the dimples paintwork can get when resprayed if silicone gets in the paint -I am no expert and can’t tell if they are in the paint or in the Pure Guard (which I assume is like a lacquer or varnish???)

Now I am pretty sure I would have noticed these on delivery or over Summer, but didn’t – is it possible for these dimples to appear (or get worse) over time?

I am hoping a detailer will be able to work their magic!

Any comments would be appreciated.

My initial thought is go back to Stratstone and ask them......if they supply the product they should be able to deal with any questions/concerns etc.

check out detailingworld.com and look for the list of available detailers. You can also see examples of their work before you commit

Not quite Sheffield, but Jay at Miglior is very good at what he does and always manages a fantastic finish. Worth checking out the portfolio on his website http://www.miglior.co.uk

He is based in Blackburn, so not sure if this is too far.

A detailer will have to strip off the Pure Guard to sort it out.

Check out www.swissvax.co.uk for a list of their detailers, or you could have it done at their detailing centre in Knaresborough, North Yorks.

Thanks everybody. I was rather hoping to find someone a bit more local - but may have a day out to Knaesborough for a quote.

I had a quick look on detailingworld but couldn't see anybody close, but will take a good look later and probably start a thread on that forum, cos before I approach the dealer that sold me the car I would like to be certain of my facts - ie, is it the paintwork or is it the 'pure guard' finish that is at fault. Either way it will probably not be worth the hassle/time and may be better/easier just to instruct a detailer.

Not in any deparate hurry as I may well wait till Spring
