Hello all,

A newbie here... Am about to buy a 57 reg (08 Model Year) V8 Vantage Roadster. It's Tungsten with Black interior. It has the Premium audio, bluetooth , bright finish grill, battery conditioner, heated seats, sat nav, garage door opener , powerfold mirrors (arent they standard) and recent new tyres.

I have always wanted an Aston, but this will be my first.

Previously I drove a porsche 997 C4S Cab, and changed that a few weeks ago for a newer 09 plate C4S cab Gen II. However, I had a bit of a bad experience with the dealer and rejected the car.

The V8V Roadster that I have seen is obviously a bit older being a Dec 2007 car. It is a Manual (which I prefer) , has 15k miles on the clock and fAMsh. It was last serviced in April at 12,500 miles and has AM warranty until Dec 2010

I have agreed £55k including a 3year service at AM and another years AM warranty.

My feelings are that it may not be quite as sharp to drive as the Porsche was, but it makes one helluva noise that just puts a huge grin on your face!

Anyway - what I was looking for from you experts, is whether this sounds like a reasonable value purchase? I could spend more on something newer, but am equally happy with this actual car that I have seen, and saving a bit of cash. Any advice, thoughts or ideas very much appreciated.

Cheers
Simon

Sounds good to me.

The only observation I would make is that I am assuming it is a 4.3 and you might want to splash a wee bit more on a 4.7 with sportpack for the extra oomph and sharpness given your overall comments.

The 08my is a good option. It's got the upgrade with Ipod, USb and a bluetooth phone system that actually works.

Thanks chaps - All comments well noted...

I did like the 4.7 no doubt, and to be honest I am going into this somewhat thinking that I perhaps am doing things possibly the wrong way. However there don't appear to be many manual 4.7's with sportpack - I have been offered at 4.3 N400 which interested me at around 66k. Then again - the one I have seen looks to me to be great value.

I have some reservations in the build quality may not be up to that of Porsche (or at least the reliability of the build quality - or something like that )

Then again, this is something that I am buying with heart not head. My current thinking is as long as it's YM08 then I get the bits that I wouldn't do without - I f I am then pleased with being an AM owner, I will look in a year or so top upgrade.

That sounds like I am just not prepared to pay for the 4.7, which is and at the same time is not true... obviously the cheaper entry is a bit easier , should I get in one and decide that it's not the car for me.

I drove it on Sunday - and the NOISE was just fabulous - and yes.... fuse 22 will be getting thrown in the bin on day 1 !!!

so excited - I typed it twice!!!

So come on - if anyone can say to me 'No - don't do it' it's a bad deal , or I will really regret not getting the 4.7 (which again all seem to start around 70k ish?) then I am gonna go ahead and pay my deposit now.

You're asking on the wrong forum if you want to be talked out of this deal, get it bought!

Hahahha - that's good enough for me.. First Aston Martin - here we come! Deposit paid!
I shall be back asking for lots of info - I knew a fair bit about BMW and Porsches, but my Aston knowledge is next to zero - other than I have always loved them from afar!..It's nice to be here... thanks for the initial help!

Bought the same colour and spec Roadster, but January 08 and 7,500 miles three months ago for 60K, so yours is a fair price I'd say (and hope!). Everything I hoped for plus perfect reliability so far. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

You will not regret it, I picked up my V8V 4 weeks ago, should have done it ages ago. The looks, the noise, the smell, the whole experience.

And the rest - I spent £71k on my 4.7 3 months ago and coudn't find a cheaper one in a decent colour.
Earliest 4.7's are from Sept 08. IMHO Sports pack is a must.
Roadsters will drop alot in the next few months as temperatures drop ALL makes of roadsters do. Ideal time to buy is Jan/Feb time when no ones buying, we are all spent up from Xmas and they need to move stock.

I love mine - enjoyed my 120 mile blast this morning at 2C outside temp smile

I would be really interested to hear your impression after a few miles. I'm thinking of changing my 911 997S for a V8V early next year.

I went from a 996 C2 Cab to an AMV8V and was so disappointed - lasted a whole 5 months before getting rid and back to a 997 TT Cab which is an infinitely better car in almost every respect - hope you have a better experience smile

You are perhaps the type of owner to whom the driving experience is everything and aesthetics count for nothing. The transition from 911 coupe to 911 cab has to produce one of the ugliest results in the motoring world - IMHO, of course, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder apparently yes

Very possibly I may too be disappointed... It's probably a given that the 997 will be a better car to drive - However my last 2 cars were 997's and although I love the Porsche, it was time for a change. I thgink (hope) that the Aston will offer more of a 'sense of occasion'... and no matter how good the soundtrack of the 997 with PSE - the V8V just sounds better!...

Am not knocking Porsche - they are truely brilliant - just need something different for a while.

Will let you know once I get it, what I think.. On that matter I am gutted , I get it tomorrow (Tuesday) but am going to be away all week, so have to wait till Saturday before I get to have a play!
