Does anyone know if the splitter supplied as part of the carbon aero package is actually functional?

In the pictures it seems a bit too small.

Thanks

Yes, its functional. It reduces the amount of air spilling under the front of the car, to reduce front end lift, which in turn, reduces understeer in higher speed corners, and improves high speed stability.

Ok that's good to know I was thinking about getting the kit. Have you got it? Does the diffuser work too?

No, i don't own an Aston, but drive them regularly. Everything on the Aston is functional, N400 sills, diffuser, V12 bonnet louvres, boot flip etc

Hi Mark,

Carbon spliiter fitted to my 2010 V8V

I think it really finishes the front of the car much better than the standard splitter and the rear duffuser is sooooo much better.

I personally think that it's more of a cosmetic upgrade, albeit a good one. The front diffuser is hardly going to make a difference in the real world due to its' size.

You'd be surprised how much difference small pieces make to aero.

Possibly. But as most road cars will be going sub 70mph much of the time, they're still going to be mostly cosmetic on a car like this, weighing 1600kg etc smile

If you only had the carbon diffuser and not the front splitter, you'd know about it on a track day or higher speeds. They're designed to even out the lift/downforce from front to rear. One without the other makes the car worse than if it had neither.

The photos look great. The splitter does look a bit short to me and I would have thought the diffuser tunnels were to short to provide any real benefit.

I don't think you need a great big Duck Bill style front splitter here, that would look daft and only get caught on speed bumps and kerbs etc.

Yes it's largely cosmetic, the rear cannot go much futher back due to the rear exhaust box, but I'm sure the splitter / duffuser combination helps clean up the airflow under the car compared to the orginal.

Ian

Ok thanks everyone. I think I'll go ahead. I've been talking to DMS and they're £500 cheaper than my local dealer in Exeter.
@Ian your car looks v nice.

I wonder if Wilmslow are more 'competitive' on price wink
