Just wondered that manufacturers have to meet Euro 5 compliance re emissions for Jan 2011 and introduce day time running ligts as standard.

As the model year 2011 version is already the current version there seems to be no mention of Euro 5 compliance or what AM are providing as day time running lights, is this going to be version 11.5?

Yes, but the sun doesn't shine in the UK. Hence the need for daytime running lights !

I think thats been moved to Jan 2012. The lights for the V12/V8 vantage are already in place and the DB9/DBS will be upgraded with the Rapide side light units, so they can all be wired in the on position!

Au contraire. Decided to have summer off this year and the weather was bloody lovely.

Ok, the sun's not out now. But places sans seasons get very dull after a while smile

Next thing you know they'll force all cars to be painted fluorescent pink so they are easier to see. Her in the US we've got about 50,000 killed a year because of drunk driving and 5000 because of texting, anyone worrying about daytime running lights is pretty clueless. You would reduce the number of accidents simply by teaching people how to use a blinker since its apparently way to confusing for most people to figure it out on their own.

I believe Scandinavian research indicates it's a useful thing to have them on. Though in these countries it's dark a lot more than in more southern countries. So who knows.

tbh, I think the only way to radically impact death through "accidents" statistics is to neuter idiots. But as many of them are in power, and we are now beyond critical mass to the point where the majority of voters fall into this category, there is no hope biggrin

Believe it or not but yellow is the most easy to see colour in all conditions. It'll be the new black when the insurances companies decide to offer cheaper policies to those who paint their cars a nice shade of banana.

So how are AM going to meet Euro 5 emissions next year and is it just the case of reflashing some software so that the front sidelights are on permanantly.

I have spoken to a dealer and they do not know, surely they should know if asked the question or are AM going to launch an upgraded AM V8 like the DB9 in the new year and that is why discounts are a plenty?.

Aston Martin already sell cars in countries where daylight running lights are required you know. I don't think it's going to be a problem.

So seeing as a V8VR wrapped up in a nice shade of yellow is actually the car I'm lusting over, the insurance company should do me a nice deal wink
