I have had my car up for sale for a few weeks at 52k with not calls or emails. I have now reduced and wanted opinion of you guys:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1802907.htm

I think its good value at that price of £50k what are your thoughts?

Not to bad fella, i would add more photos , show those sills.

put all the service history down.

apart from that , looks ok.

It is very slow out there at the moment for aston sales.

Everything has its price...even in a slow market.

Doesn't matter what we think as we're not buying I guess. You need to appeal to someone who is.

As someone looking to buy a V8V to replace my TVR I would have to agree that there just aren't enough pictures of both the exterior and interior. The N400 sills are not shown and there is no visual way of checking the interior of the car. Also, I believe I share the view with many others that the Caspian Blue interior is no where near as popular as any other colour.

Hope that helps.

agreed - your advert just lacks sparkle. Make you car stand out in the crowd, make it scream BUY ME!

The pics are dull and boring - shoot them again in better light and show off the colour of the car and its beauty with some better angles. Probably drop the enginebay shot and definately drop the techie exhaust shot - 99% of people (Im prob rare here and in the other 1%, but Im a spod too) will think this is a very odd picture to have of a car.

Geezz - I should be in marketing! smile

only 3 pics and two of them are of the engine and exhaust....only one pic of the car itself and no pics of the interior, suggest you take a look at other peoples adds and how they photograph them........personally I would not mention the Larni's. To me people who like to put sports exhausts on their cars like to drive them hard. sell it seperatly on e-bay.......i would personally be put off the car by the exhausts......the wording on the add is not good, you keep repeating yourself.....again look at other peoples adds.....good luck

if you dont want all the hassle and its not moving you could put it on sale or return

thats what we did last time

trying to shift a £50K car, when you offer no warranty or finance can be difficult and time consuming

...or pay £1250 and let someone else do all the work for you

I spent a month faffing around with time wasters/scammers trying to sell a £35K car 18 months ago

within 3 days/2 viewings at a dealer it was gone, it cost £1250 for that service

depends how motivated you are to sell I guess ...the "no offers" thing puts a lot of people off

especially the real cash private buyers, who are usually the hardest to bargain with, after the most value for the least cost

...I know, as thats my profile wink ...if I want to pay top money for a car, I want all the convenience, warranty, service a dealer can offer

otherwise I want it cheap as possible....and on car like the Vantage, thats at least £5K difference

so check out the cheapest trade cars like yours, knock off £5K and you might get some interested calls .....

edit: also ring up a trader/dealer and ask how much they will give you for it now, no hassle ...then you will know the real trade value of it (ish)

I am inclined to agree with the view above.

"Please note, I am not after trades and I have reduced the car to sell at £49995, I am not after any offers and won't take any, this is the price I am after." is a bit in your face.

Let people decide to come and see your car and want to buy t before you tell them that you won't accept a lower price: Buying a car should be fun, and your rather abrupt stance isn't conducive to enjoying the "deal".

Completely agree with the previous poster. Don't scare people away by saying that you are virtually closed to all offers. Invite them to come and see the car and fall in love with it. Awake the emotional gene rather than the rational one. Imagine Dixons saying on the High Street window that they are definately not open to do any deals so don't even try to enter. The only thing that can get you the asking price is to make it as desirable as possible in relation to other alternatives. If your car is cared for and you can inspire confidence in the buyer you will get a deal. If you don't even let him in in the first place you will be getting nowhere. Good luck.

I also think its 3k overpriced........there are a number of low miles 2007 cars at 45-47k mark......a dealer will only offer you 42-44k cash as they would need 5-8k margin in it

Will you take £49,950 ?

Yes - I thought so... so why put that agressive stuff in about "no offers"....

That would put me off immediately.

Also - you need more pictures - I had 9 good pictures when I recently sold my Ultima, and so anyone who comes to view already knows what you are selling - they have almost mentally committed to it before turning up - then it's just about the price - and that means being realistic I think.

Best of Luck though.

Hi all.. I must admit I noticed this ad a little earlier today. I've only just purchased my AMV8 and were looking for almost exactly your spec car. 07MY low mileage with the extras you list (sills are an unexpected perk).

I also had a budget of ~£50k so your car would have fallen nicely into my bracket. So here's the downside.

The first thing I noticed with your ad earlier is the pictures of the car are pretty poor... better lighting, take pictures from much lower down, level with the car they will show it off better. Almost nobody purchasing an AMV8 is too worried about the engine bay.. it's certainly not the 2nd shot I would show a perspective buyer.

The wording is quite abrupt and you've said that the exhaust is extra... now there is some trade off you need to consider.... For £50k this is dealer money before negotiating the sticker price, your car is unlikely to be fully prepped, no chips, scuffs, leather issues, wheel referbs, Warranty and you don't have the financial services a dealer would do. This goes a long way in the £50k bracket.

The exhaust is a bit of a deal sweetner which may justify why someone would spend £50k, taking the mechanical and financial risk on your car.

With the constraints you are putting on your potential buyer group you are limiting your options significantly.

I think you could get your asking price or very close to, but my advice would be to consider re-packaging your deal.

Hi Guys, sorry to highjack this tread.
I am in the same boat, my V8 has been on for 4 weeks and havent had a massive amount of calls however only
had 2 people look at the car.
Whilst i could do with the money, i am not willing to let the car disappear for pennys as some people have tried.
I had a call from a genuine person (as far as i could tell) saying they really loved the V8, however would i accept 20k............no guessing what my response was!!!

Any comments to my add?

Seems like a good advert to me.. in that price bracket you'll be appealing to a cash buyer and the pictures show the car off well. I think if you hang tight you'll get what you want. Someone out there will want to pick up what is a very competitively priced AMV8.

Thanks for the replies guys. The 3 pics that I put up were temporary as I didn't have any pic since fitting the N400 sills so outdoor pics without them wouldn't look right :P

I am waiting for the rain to clear this wekeend and give it a good clean and snap some proper photos.

As for price, someone mentioned it might be overpriced but the cheaper 2007 cars have had a fair bit more miles on them and are nowwhere the same spec. I have had trade in offers of 45k and 47k for two various cars but I reckon I might get 50ish with the right buyer. The only hinderance is Caspian Blue doesnt appeal to everyone but in the flesh it looks fantastic.

The reason for no offers was I was getting messed around. Some people would look at it and come out with daft offers and just waste my time. I should perhaps word it differently as I don't want to put people off.

Will hopefulyl amend it this weekend and see if it gets some genuine interest!

45k to 47k tade in equates to 42-45 for cash......although I think 49-50 is not unreasonable I dont belive you will get it......I e-mailed you and offered to rewrite the add for you .....the offer still stands......at least then if your add is still criticised you can blame me smile

Just my two pennies worth on your car. When I was looking I did seriously consider whether to come and see yours. Ultimately I wanted a car with lower mileage and that was the only reason I didn't contact you. I did end up spending a few thousand more but this did put me in a lower mileage (by about 15k) car. From a buyers point of view your car is well priced and as already stated, you just need to wait for the right buyer to come along.

Well guys I have updated the pictures and noticed I hadn't added the car has satnav! Advert looks better and also had a 48k trade in towards a used R8, somewhat tempted to negotiate on that as waiting for a buyer with 50k cash can sometimes be a headache. However, I assume the trade in value is high due to their margin, I might get a better deal selling my car privately and using that trade in margin to get a discount on the car?

possiably you could negociate 2 or 3k off the R8 which means they are really giving 45 to 46 trade in
