Stone Chip Repair
Discussion
Just a heads up - Stone chips on the Aston are the bane of my life. It seems that every time I take it out I'm dodging flying objects from the cp that's on most roads these days. I'm sure that most of us, after using the car for a year or two, have considered a front-end respray. Ultimately that's what I'll probably end up doing. Anyway, and in the meantime, it's worth knowing that there is a product called 'Langka' that does what it says on the tin....well almost. In percentage terms I'd say that it fixes the eyesore of a chip by about 95% and is simple to use. I've even fixed chips that I blobbed with paint over 12 months ago with really good results. It won't readily fix chips that are light/shallow as you need to be able to fill the chip with a decent amount of paint to get the overall finish but for deeper ones it's a great substitute for a respray, at least in the medium term.
This isn't a great colour to demonstrate how good the finish can get but if you've got the inclination you could watch this

btw, I've no affiliation with Langka

I used that on my last cat but found this better
http://www.drcolorchip.com/
I also eventually worked out you could get the same effect with OEM touch up paint and rubbing compound. The quality is in the way to "flat off" the touch up paint.
It is harder with clear coate metallic cars
My current car came with the plastic shields on it, which I was sceptical would work. But I'm glad it did as it does!

I've also used the Langka stuff when fixing stone chips on my cars.
It's pretty good at what it does however I've found it does 'bleach' the touched up paint a little so although you get a nearly invisible fix on light coloured cars, on darker coloured cars the paint repair looks slightly washed out.
I'm not brave enough to wet sand touch up paint so it's that or the Dr ColorChip looks interesting.

Is everyone who used Dr ColorChip still happy with the results? I note they don't list AM as a manufacturer - did you order by paint code/number? I was thinking of ordering some for my white MB E55AMG and my Grampian Green (dark metallic) DB7.
Cheers, Ray.
I got mine from the site and it is still on there under Aston Martin. I was very impressed with the results and very easy to use.Cheers, Ray.
