Headlamp adjustment for continental driving
Discussion
I'm off to Spa this coming Wednesday (with V8V) and rather than adjust the headlamps for continental driving (as per explanation on DMS website)was planning to use headlamp beam adapters (as per sticky things on lens covers as sold by Halfords). However, have just read Sept issue of AM news (ok, I flicked through it and just spotted KH's letter on page 40) and see that upon removal people have also removed the lacquer film of the lens. The adapters will be fitted for less than a week and I plan to remove them with the aid of a hair dryer (the wife's!). Has anybody experienced problems when removing these adapters?
Thanks to Michael G, Dogie, Vantager and With these feet for there response to my question of yesterday.
Vantager - will certainly consider DMS as it may be worth the distance for a good value service. Experience with the Griff was that Main Dealers charged the earth and slapped on new parts where specialists offered advice and scored well with customer satisfaction by the way they went out of their way to help.
Is there such a thing for the AM V8 as there was with the Steve Heath's workshop manual for the TVR Griff?

Just back from France. Didn't put the beam deflectors on mine. Had them in the car, but fairly sure they would't have fitted properly anyway. Had them in the unlikely event of being stopped by frog plod.
Have been going to the continent for at least 10 years on bikes and cars and never been stopped, so shouldn't be a problem not fitting them.
When I bought my V8V last year specifically asked the dealer about altering the beam, got told didn;t need to as Xenon beam is straight. Thought it bks at the time.
How you getting to France, ferry or tunnel?

beam deflectors do not work on xenons (there is no pattern on the AM perspex covers - that's a clue).Have been going to the continent for at least 10 years on bikes and cars and never been stopped, so shouldn't be a problem not fitting them.

Not AM related but my parents have been driving to france for many many summers since I was tiny and have never used headlamp reflectors. They don't do much night driving but this year we were forced to by a late ferry crossing and there weren't any complaints from french motorists about our lights and they're quite high up coming from a VW Caravelle. If you're not planning on doing much night driving then it might just be worth going without. There are so many badly asjusted headlights around these days that I have more issues with standard UK headlights than those of LHD cars!!
