I'm currently trying to sell my BMW Z4MC, SWMBO wanted me to replace it with an M3. After showing her how ugly they are in Wilmslow yesterday we nipped over to the Aston shop. I'm 80% there on the V8V now! Just need to find the right one for M3 money. If any of you are thinking of changing please get in touch.

Lovely but in an ideal world I'd like a few less miles. Academic at the moment as I need to shift the MC first. Unless u want to trade down?

I agree that the E92 M3 is ugly - it's a common trait of all current BMWs - especially compared to the E46.

Indeed its all relative... The E92 M3 is damn good looking car but the V8V is much better looking. That said the V8 Vantage is a damn fast car but the E92 M3 is much faster.

As you say its all relative. I love them both but saying the E92 M3 is ugly is like saying the V8 Vantage is really slow...

eh? when did an M3 get faster than a V8V ? ...I thought they we around the same to 60, and about the same to a ton and limited to 155mph?

or have they brought out a new 500bhp model since I last looked smile

Theres not a lot in it if you believe website figures:

http://www.fastestlaps.com/comparisons/46f388b4379...

It of course depends if the comparison is between a 380Hp V8 vantage or 420hp V8 vantage and the E92 M3???

The vantage is by far the better looking car though by far (IMHO). There seems to be VERY little between the two cars perfomance wise. Almost identical weight and power.

I assume by shunts implied budget that he's looking for a 4.3 so its 385BHP. Pretty much every review you find will place the E92 M3 comparable to or even slightly faster than a 4.7 V8V so its pretty much a given that its faster than a 4.3.

Anyway as shunt keeps saying "its all relative" - I wasnt implying the V8V is slow, far from it, just trying to state the E92 is a gorgeous car and certainly not ugly as was the statement of the OP.

Its all relative!!! The E92 M3 is only relatively ugly compared to a V8V but then thats a pretty silly statement as almost every car on the planet is ugly on that logic.

Not for nothing, but 38,000 miles on a 4 to 5 year old car is not a lot of miles. As a matter of fact, it means the car has been driven regularly. Someone driving the car regularly has worked through any issues the car has had and it is most likely a pretty reliable car. Its not like it has 80,000 miles on it. I get much more worried about 5 year old cars with 5000 miles because these cars were not designed to sit.

Jay, have to agree with you, the V8 has had all the niggles etc sorted out and drives totally different since i had a new clutch put in, from Rick at DMS.
It’s amazing as when i purchased the car had 21k on the clock and the clutch was still a little heavy, however now its so light.
It’s such a beauty to drive and absolutely gutted i have to sell it, however unfortunately bigger house comes before a car.
Got to go now and get in the matchbox smart car.........................

Shunt, do have a look on here if you are new to the Astons as there are some really good buying points to look out for, helped me when i made my selection!

Thanks for the info, to clarify - performance wise M3 vs V8V vs Z4MC in the real world there's very little in it, they're all quick cars. Hence performance variations between them is not an issue for me.

M3 being ugly - I do think it's lost it's way over the years. The current model just doesn't look special enough, putting my MC next to it, I know which one has more presence.

My original problem was persuading the Mrs about a V8V. She'd always loved the E36 M3 Cab I had years ago, but looked quite shocked when I showed her the current model up close. It's a woman thing.

As for miles, I agree a car that has been used is better than a 5k miler but I have a strange mental block about 50k miles. Hence I would prefer a car that has <30k. It will be used as a second car and therefore never reach the 50k in my ownership.

Sounds perfect apart from the Orange, does look great but not for me I'm afraid. Have now got the green light from SWMBO on the purchase though, albeit with conditions attached.

Go for it Shunt ! Have had my V8V roadster for just under a week now and loving it biggrin Don't worry about a car with a few miles, the guys here are right, this car can certainly take it, and all the bugs will be ironed out.

Had a trip over to look at this today:

http://www.hippoprestige.co.uk/usedcardeal.php?dea...

Does anyone either know the car or have experience of dealing with Hippo Prestige?

Car looked great and is a serious contender.

That car has been for sale for a little while now. No idea why and I have no knowledge on the history of the car. Just wanted to point it out as the good ones seem to be going rather quickly at that price range (just picked one up myself and I saw it within 24 hours of the car being listed on here).
