The Rattle and Squeak Thread
Discussion
I know there are various threads scattered about the forum on the various unwanted noises in our otherwise wonderful cars. However, for those of you who have isolated particular rattles, squeaks, bumps, gurglings, chirpings, etc. and fixed them, how about sharing your forensic experiences with the rest of us. The universal solution I know is to pull fuse 22 and so drown out everything!

OK, here's one to start with. On my V8V, the two metal prongs that secure the rear parcel shelf in position were loose in their locating holes. One layer of tape on each and they now fit more tightly.
Same here. Parcel shelf is squirking on my V12 Vantage - otherwise no rattles.Couple of issues in my Vantage - front airvents in the dash creaking. Also sat Nav until rattling. Dealer sorted the airvents by refitting them and looked at Sat Nav. Initally rattle stopped but found after a couple of uses, it crept back. Swapped for a DBS to get rid of all rattles. Solved!
It seems that rattles and squeaks etc. seem to be looked at under the extended warranty no problem for you guys? I assume there is just the one level of cover under this as my local Dealer seemed non to keen to get involved in anything other than "mechanical failure". Might be time to try a more sympathetic Dealer?
Had a rattle from the passenger door within a few weeks of delivery, it was fixed by the dealer but came back again within a few weeks. Another day without it and they had it fixed, been ok for several months now. it was something had come loose behind the panel apparently.
Also, it went in for a rattle around the sat Nav a few month ago, sorted but came back again within a few weeks. They've had it in again today and fitted a new piano black surround and some kind of "fixing kit" to the sat nav unit. Thy also said they had found a rattle in front of the driver which tbh I hadn't noticed, which they fixed. Only done a couple miles in it since this afternoon, but it was free from any noise other than the engine.
Fingers crossed!

Resonance in the driver's door speaker, particularly with the radio.... any ideas?
Taking it in next week.
I've got something similar. Certain frequencies cause it. Its actually worst with the voice from the navigation system. But the vibration is in the door itself because it doesn't do it if window isn't all the way up. Try seeing if the window position affects it.Taking it in next week.
Mine isn't bad enough at the moment to take it in for service just for that. If I get a chance I may see how easy it is to just pull that top part of the door panel off and tighten things down.

Had a 'vibrating' rattle every time I shut the boot in my V8V. Tracked it down to the bracket that holds the bottle of tyre sealant gunk vibrating against the bottle when I shut the boot. Solved it by putting a sticky felt pad (sort of things you put under chair legs when you have wood floors) on the bottle, and ensuring the pad sits against the bracket. Took over a year to find this!

Well, my extended warranty wasn't worth the paper it's written on as far as rattles are concerned. I had to fork out £150 to get the buzzing from the centre console sorted out. So I'm more inclined to try and fix these noises myself (properly with sellotape of course!)
Hiya...what was the problem in the end? I have the same issue with my DB9V 2010cheers
