Changing my 360 for a DB9?
Discussion
Hi all,
Currently have a 360 which I absolutely love, but as we have a 3yr old daughter, it is becoming a little tiresome not being able to go out in the car together.
I have an S Type R that I use daily, keeping the Fezza for weekends and the occassional trip to work.
Thinking a DB9 (or a Gransport/CGT) could be used as a daily drive and we could all fit in it.
The search function is now just a google one which doesn't throw up much, so would be interested to know from 'those who know' what a DB9 is like to live with on a daily basis and from anyone who has made the same/similar move.
Like the Vanquish but budget is circa £45k and the Vanq seems more of a weekend toy (which I'd need to keep the jag to have).
Any help/suggestions appreciated - thanks!

Hi mate
I am in the fortunate position of owning both a 360 M F1 and a DB9 coupe.
Firstly, the back seats are very small, seemingly smaller than on my old 997 C2S and mark 1 XK8, they are more suitable for bags to be honest.
If I were you, I would keep the 360 and the S-type R rather than get rid of the 360, for me the Ferrari is much more exciting and more dramatic. If I had to choose 360vDB9, Id go Ferrari everytime.
You have a nice family car with a lot of power to transport the family around, so keep the 360!

best change your profile Ollie as it has you down for a 360 and a V8 Vanatage (you spelling not mine) and there are no back seats in a VantageI am in the fortunate position of owning both a 360 M F1 and a DB9 coupe.

Ollie is right.....not much room in the back of a DB9 but you will get your 3 year old in the back for the occational trip..best go to your local dealer and try the back out
Thanks for pointing out that typo Michael.
I did indeed used to have a Vantage, but changed to the DB9 very recently.
As Michael said, best thing to do is go to look at one and assess the room in the rear for yourself. Personally I would not consider it suitable for anything more than bags/clothing.
Things to note about the DB9 are - lovely sound with the valves permanently opened, excellent level of comfort and refinement, looks from pedestrians everywhere (but you will get that in the 360), so sometimes not ideal for an everyday car, and appalling fuel economy - think 11-13mpg around town.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I get around 20max from the STR, so appreciate a DB9 is going to be less, but insurance, repairs, MOT's etc etc shoudl balance that out really.
Fortunately my mrs is only 5'3" so there should be enough space for teh two of them.
We tried a DB7 a few years back and it was a squash but do-able ... but that was with the little one in a baby seat - she'll be in a booster soon, hence the logic.
Will investigate .....
Thanks again

I have never been in a DB9 so i cant really help with that but......have you looked at a BMW M6?
its hardly a replacement for his 360 or a DB9 !!!! might not be as good in the looks department, but it more than makes up for it in performance, and it has more room than the DB9 and 360.
Oh.....and a heads up display

Yes I know that Zod just irratated by the comment that the M6 is faster than a DB9 and thats why he should consider it.......bit of a childish comment......I know an M6 is different from a 645i but i never thought much of it and I dropt my pants when I sold it......on a happier note I sold my X3 to a dealer last night and only dropt £1500 over the 15 months I owned it......happy days
The M6 needs to be seriously fast as its soo hideous from the rear that it needs to blast past other road users very quickly so they don't get a good look at its sheer hideousness and crash trying to avert their eyes.
Even I could have designed a better looking boot than the tacked on affair its got.

Never had chance to max my Cerb, Tuscan, 911 or 360 .... so I'm not too fussed about top speed and stats (0-62 and 0-100 are more important, but not really a reason I'd buy a particular car). Closest I got was 187 at Bruntingthorpe with Mrs and 2 kids in the back of the 911 ... still pulling but slowed down as cars in front peppered my front end with stones ... caused a right mess, so didn't go back out.
Thanks for the DB9 pointers ... I'm going to speak to a dealer about an extended test drive over a weekend (worth asking) or maybe hire one for a week. I know my 360 has been loved and pampered, so am loathed to change it only later to be dissapointed and want it back again. DB9 is more a GT, but sizewise a few other things make it that bit more useable than the 360 (for the 3 of us) .... decisions decisions.
OR --> I will just have to work harder/smarter and be able to have a DB9 & a 360 like Ollie!

Well done ... bet you felt like you got one up on a dealer for the very first time? ha ha - That's really good value ... I would be over the moon to drop £100/month on any car after my £10k+/yr experience in the 911 (still hurts now).Id agree with Mike, that owning an Aston is more than just talk of top speeds. If you want that, but something with a turbo charger that is Japanese, and take it to 1000bhp +
I have driven an M6, and I thought it was a mighty fine car, but its not in the same league as a DB9 overall. I would also imagine that it is an absolute money pit, both in running costs and depreciation - you can get a nice 55 plate example for c.£30k.
