Good Morning All

I've removed the paint protection film by the rear wheel arches on my '07 V8V.

Apart from going to a stealer where else can I buy the same quality film.

Also did later V8Vs have film that went higher up the arch?

Thanks in advance.

Call Paintshield and ask for Tom. Tell him Murph from ClubScud told you to call him (doubt it'll get you any favours, but you never know smile).

Not sure they do just the rear arches, but am sure they could very easily. And they only use the very best materials.

So does this mean that at new the V8V came with some paint protection film on it already? Been toying with the idea of getting some - will need to respray the front end soonish, so thinking about putting some on when I get that done

There's a small amount on the leading edge (up to about half way up) of the rear wings as std.

IMO, the best protection for the rear wings is to fit front mudguards. They fit quite nicely and don't ruin the lines of the car (IMO).

For the rest of the car....try the link I noted above. The biggest problem, for me, is that I don't believe anyone makes a film wide enough to cover the bonnet in one piece. Which means a join line. No matter what any fitter says, you can always see them, especially when the car's dirty (which mine is. Often).

There is also "venture shield" and what is often referred to as "helicopter tape" as it is used to protect the leading edge of the blades.

Murph my bonnet has a single price to just behind the lights, it does not need it any further up (mine has no chips up there after 15k miles)

I had it done after I resprayed the front end of my F430. The stuff is bullet proof and certainly does the job, but comes at the price of not having the lovely glossy look and feel of naked paint. You will have that sort of plastic feel and a slight orange peel effect.

I had mine machine polished along with the car, very hard to tell it is there! You can just about make it out in this pic

Yep, hard to tell from photos. But its the high gloss silky effect you get in full sunshine which was whats missing. Admittedly, I didnt get it machine polished, but I spoke to a very well respected detailer here on PH and he confirmed that its just how it is, and that although machine polishing can help, it obviously doesnt make it as good as if it were not there.

True my point was it is not as noticable as people think and for me the benefits far outway hard to detect cosmetic change.

I have to agree. My car had it on several areas when I bought it. I wasn't keen at 1st but don't notice it now at all, and my paintwork is as new after 8,000 miles and a lot of motorway driving.

I have this on the rear arches of my Vantage and I noticed the cars we tested at Gaydon yesterday had it on several places at the front. I was impressed by how difficult it was to spot it but this was on the darker coloured cars, the lighter the finish the easier it is to spot the edges.
Personally I can live with it for the sake of protecting the paint but I imagine this might not be palatable to all.
