Hi, I am new to pistonheads so please go easy on me!!
I needs some advice on running a Vantage V8. I don't have limitless funds and wondered how reliable the Vantage is general running costs(will be doing 10k a year) what the mpg is etc. Looking to buy second hand and have 50k to play with. Was going to get a Ferrari but want a car that is a little more practical. Plus the vantage looks stunning.
Enough from me for my first post.
Look forward to hearing from you all.
Rico.

Do a search - you'll find tons of info and answers to pretty much any question you have wink

NB don't dismiss an F car on practicality grounds necessarily. Your budget gives access to good 355 and 360s too. Will cost more than a V8 Vantage to run, but they're also great cars. And if you have that itch...

Bought a 06 Vantage 18 months ago. So far it has cost me an annual service ~£1000.00 and one rear tyre (bloody screw in it), occasional top up of oil and petrol. Thats it. They do some miles to the gallon! Depends how hard you drive it, high teens would be about average.
If on limited funds get one with the extended AM warranty.
Good luck!

Had mine for 9 months now (06) from a dealer. It had a couple of early niggles (stiff 1st-2nd change which is a well known "feature" and air cond. compressor starting squeaking) but both were done under warranty. It's been an absolute dream ever since. 4 year service (biggie) done at Derby Motor Services for around half the price of a dealer. I'd recommend buying from a dealer as you get the 12 month warranty and they prep the cars really well (not a chip on mine when I picked it up).

On average it's doing about 18mpg (drive to work is about 15 miles). On longer cruises it does 22-24, shorter more spirited drives it's much less!

There is some debate about low vs high milers; mine had 28k when I bought it which for me meant it was well used and so any problems would have surfaced. Very low milers at that age I'd be worried that parts will seize.

It's not the cheapest car to run, but it's not as bad as I expected before I bought it. Tyres seems to wear well, insurance can be had for reasonable prices and no matter where you are in the country, it's worth driving to Rick at DMS for the extraordinary service at Audi/BMW prices.

Every time I get in it I smile. There's always a sense of occasion and it still makes me laugh how the world seems to stop and admire as you drive by.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Have decided to do it. Now the fun begins, finding the right colour mileage and spec etc.
Want to get my iPhone working in the vantage, do I need just the Bluetooth or the full phone prep? What do you need to play music from the iPhone through the music system?

Nothing useful to say but even if you couldn't afford to fix it, it'd look great on your drive. I saw one last night with the rain sitting on it. cloud9 Such a beautiful car.
