Hi all,

Well the happy day arrived and I've picked up my Aston after dismissing everything else in favour of some fine British beef. Absolutely love the car, it's only an 07 Vantage since im not vastly loaded but it has been everything I was hopng it would be. It's in now for the Prodrive power kit so I have to wait a few more days to get it back.

Anyway, a friend of mine is a photography buff and he stook 10 mins out to take some pics, if you want to see his stuff he's on:

I recommend that you clean your alloys before the brake dust does some damage!! Other than that, brilliant. Congratulations beer

Wow, some of the best pics I've seen. It's true about the wheels, they are not the best quality and if you don't clean them regularly, the will get pitted and look bad forever.

That first photo is fantastic and some of those photos on the flickr page are superb. Your mate is a talented dude with a camera.

Congrats on the car. I'm still in the first throws of ownership as well and enjoying it mor every day.

Indeed folks my wheels were pretty filthy. I'd only had the car a few days and had been giving it some stick and enjoying myself. Didn't really have time to get it cleaned since it was going into the garage straight after, hoepfully they'll do a clean. Good tips on the wheels though, have stocked up on the Autoglym ready fr it's return.

My friend, take the autoglym back to halfords and dont let the dealer wash it, they will make it look worse.

Take a look here and get yourself some of the products from the list:

There are alot of swissvax products on there, but so long as you get a couple of mitts, a decent drying towel or 2 and a decent wax, you cant go far wrong.

He's right. Do not let the dealer clean it. It will come back with scratches.

Last week I bought much of the kit recommended here, although went for a cheaper wax. The wheel cleaning brush is excellent, as is the drying towel. Getting the right kit speeds up the cleaning process and produces a better result. I now have a very shiny car.

Thanks for the tips. Are Autoglym products really that bad? I got a big case of Autoglym stuff with the car and was planning on using that at least till it runs out. If it's rubbish though I'll get all the Swissvax gubbins you recommend.

To be honest it is. It gives a quick shine and is good for the guy who just wants to tart up his vectra on a sunday morning, but its chalk based and doesnt really offer much in the way of protection.

A good quality wax will protect the paint for months and one tub will last you years.
