The orange engine management light has come on my my DB7 Vantage but the car is running fine - it has done this before and the local Aston main dealer couldn't find anything wrong but charged £70 !!!!!! to tell me this and clear the light. Not keen on shelling out another £70 just to be told there is no problem.
I bought an OBD2 tester but this just gives a "Linking Error" message. Rick do I assume the Aston diagnostic plug isn't OBD2 compliant? Any ideas on clearing the light without getting "fleeced" or shal I just live with it? cheers

Hi Tim, firstly try both connections behind the panel as I have seen them transposed, your reader should work, here is a bit on the issue, http://www.derbymotorservices.com/faq/questions/2/... if you manage to get the codes out let me have them and I will give an indication of what may be wrong if anything, if your reader does not work any local garage that has modern equipment will be able to read one side of the engine management system, and carrying out a reset will globally reset the system,

Thanks Rick, great service as always.
On the £70 bill it said "Evap - system leak - possible loose filler cap". the light did come on shortly after I had filled up with fuel. The car is running fine so I will just get a full reset done by my local small garage, thanks again.

Thanks again Rick, as you suspected the 2 "plugs" were the wrong way round. All fixed now - the fault again said "evap - leak in system" but all OK now, cheers,
