The outer edges of both my front tyres are worn rather more than the inners - due to the very abrasive long corners at my local airfield. Can I safely swap the tyres between the front wheels so that the outers become the inners ?

Then I get to wear them out all over again ! smile

What car? And what tyres?

It's almost certain that you'll have directional tyres on the car, so the answer is no.

If they've worn that unevenly, I'd (a) suggest that swapping them over even if you could wouldn't lead to a pleasant driving experience and (b - if it's a V8 Vantage) get the geometry checked as my tyres are wearing very evenly.

Sorry, should have said: V8 Vantage on the standard Bridgestones.

You're right, they are directional, though that alone wouldn't matter if I was swapping tyres rather than wheels. I just answered my own question though by looking at the tyres and seeing that they are marked with "Outside" so they are also asymmetric. Which means each tyre is specific to one corner.

We'll never know on (a) but (b) isn't the issue (recently checked), it's my wilful multiple abuse of tyres on an airfield ! biggrin

yes
Couldn't agree more, mine were wearing more on the outer edges even though I asked the dealer to check the tracking. Had the full Geo check / change and made a world of difference to both tyre wear and handling

Airfield trackdays eat shoulders, so much so I'm surprised you're using 'airfields' as a plural!

Congrats on the V12 - but only on pistonheads! "My tyres are worn, what shall I do??" ... "Instead of replacing the tyres / geo I've ordered a V12" biggrin

I know what you mean, I wore out a full set on my Cerb at Bruntingthorpe in a single day.
It was one airfield twice in the Vantage, it's local and I meet up with various friends there. IIRC I've had a (damp) Oulton Park day out of the same front tyres as well.
