what should come with a V8 Roadster?!
Discussion
Hi all
I'm looking a buying a 57 AMV8 roadster privately over the weekend and would like some advice on what it should come with.
For example, my old 360 didn't come with a red "master key fob" which made replacing the keys very expensive.
Should there be 2 or three sets? Presume it should have a log book..
Did they come with any luggage?
Haven't driven one before but I'm after the sound so not really too bothered :-)
While I'm here, are they any niggling issues which I should be aware of? Sticking roof? Jumpy reverse? Door handles fragile?
Any help would be appreciated!

I had two sets of keys with mine, plus two tracker fobs(notorious for the batteries not lasting)
These are around the £70 ish mark if you need to replace, assuming your insurance provider insists on a tracker. Also the wind diffuser(if that's the right term)? If not fitted should be in a cloth bag which clips inside the boot. Owners manual and service record comes in a rather unusual looking long thin black book which a lot of people keep inthe minesule glove box. Remove fuse22 ( ask if unsure of location) if I think of anything else I'll post or feel free to ask

On the 4.3 there are three keys from the factory, they are Volvo items!
There are quite a few options that you may or may not get. (folding mirrors, wind deflector, trickle charger, umbrella, hi power stereo)
I test drive 9 roadsters earlier in the year before I bought my 58 plate 4.7.
IMHO do your utmost to get a 4.7 with sports pack
I always said I'd dtay manual but disliked the clutch and gearbox after my S2000 so wnt sprot shift and I love that!
Which ever you go for partially open the roof an look at the liner half way down the roof. I found quite a few that had worn through the insulation and were starting on the inner liner and our liners
IME there is no need to pull fuse 22 in a roadster

I think the vast majority on hear like to hear the full aural capacity from their engines. Removing fuse 22 makes the noise only normally available above 4000 rpm available much earlier In the rev range. This avoids the need to drive everywhere in first gear just to hear that sound! It is of course subjective but if you're buying a car for it's noise then removing f22 adds to the enjoyment . Having said that when I have a long break ( driving car every day) after about a week I switch it back to normal!!( fitted switch so's to have the option!)

My Volvo has two plastic key fobs EXACTLY the same as those on the 4.3's I test drove

..and the Volvo fobs are bare plastic, my Vantage one is leather covered, with a chrome key fastener but otherwise identical....they did make an effort to try to make them more posh LOL
That's a great help thanks guys. Hopefully getting the car this afternoon!
Aston Martin inspection revealed a few minor problems which will be sorted in the next few weeks if i get it.
They quoted 400+1099 for a warranty check + warranty when it runs out reduced to 150 +1099 if you do a service too. Consensus seems to be that it's worth it.
With a bit of luck I'll test out the exhaust this afternoon in the Limehouse link tunnel

most dealers dont charge for the inspection if they are doing the service......suggest you renegotiate the inspection chargeAston Martin inspection revealed a few minor problems which will be sorted in the next few weeks if i get it.

I picked up the car yesterday and ripped the fuse out this morning... what a difference! Very happy so far. Thanks for all the help!Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
