For me a fantastic car and I'm really enjoying my first few months of ownership.. A couple of really minor things that irk me though are the crappy looking gearstick( any replacements out there) with it's magnified glass over the gear select image. Also the bloody great cigerette packet sized alarm fob.. Bloody he'll Aston what's that!!! £90k car sleek as u like and you give us a tv remote to carry around.. Anyone looked into replacements!! One last thing when I washing it today.. Under the wing mirrors.., what's embossed under there!!! Anyone fir 5 points lol

That's my really minor rant over and now of for a spin in the beauty

I guess you have an 08 or earlier. 09 and beyond have the ECU, which isn't tiny, but its not that big. The one thing I would like them to add is keyless operation. I got spoiled with the Vette and really miss that feature.

If you have a bluetooth phone, you can get this to act as an alarm fob. Which is much better (whoever thought "I know, I'll make this just enough mm bigger in all dimensions so it doesn't fit in a wallet" needs shooting).

The gear knob's much nicer than the "Terminator SFX reject" job in the DBS/V12V (IMO). I would imagine there are a few you could get that would fit, but whether they'd be an improvement is debatable.

As for the Volvo links biggrin

Categorically THE WORST thing about the car is the st sat-nav. The cack electronics integration is a close second.

Other little bits that irk?

I HATE the key locks in the door skin. Why not incorporate them in the handle? Or ditch them altogether?

I also loath the round side indicators in the wing. Put it in the strake FFS! (At least they got this right on the DBS).

To be accurate, it's with the tracker rather than the alarm per se.

Make a note of your phone's bluetooth name (it'll be in the settings of your phone).

Call the tracking people and tell them you want to use your phone as a tag. They'll then guide you through the process.

You'll need to be in the car, and it can take around 15mins. Not all phones work with it either (iPhones do. As does a Blackberry Pearl, both from experience. The tracking people will be able to tell if it's working or not).

Word of caution - keep a phone charger in the car. If the juice goes in the phone, the tracker will be activated. And the number they are likely to call you on to disarm it will be out of service!

Regarding tracker/mobile phone link-up. Does that mean, that you have to leave your mobile phone at the garage when your car is in for service?

It worked on a 3G. And appears to work on a 4. Can't see why it wouldn't work with a 3GS...

Yep they are exactly what you say they are
"minor gripes"
All part of the experience wink
I do think the 4.7 has a few tweaks that make it better
(ECU key, no tracker fobs, better centre console)
But it still has the rubbish key holes and crap sat nav smile

It is possible to configure the Alarm so that neither a fob or phone is required. It does mean you have to alert the tracking company if the car is stolen though.

Personally I'd have made sure you got them - they're free, and always useful to have a back up.

Edited to add...and I'm sure any potential buyer would want them...

Now *that* sounds sensible. Do you just call the tracking firm to sort it? And do you pay the same price for the tracking service?

Agreed.

My DBS didn't come with tags but I requested them for exactly that reason.

I got two black square plastic things( credit card size no buttons just a bar code) with my car that I thought were the fobs for the tracker. When I rang to register they said the fobs were nothing to do with the tracker.. So I haven't got a clue what they are for.. Haven't had any false alarms and leave them away from the car at all times!!

Mikey did you get my mail about them satnav discs?
