not bad for a full service
Discussion
Just booked my DB9 in for its 5 year service with my local (ish)main dealer and after a little negotiating, have agreed a price of £520 + VAT. I am suppling the oil. The service includes the warranty inspection as intend to take it out for another year at a cost of £1360. The point i'm making is the cost of the service is reasonable and ownership of these wonderful vehicles does not have to be any more expensive than owning a BMW or Merc

Thats a good price, Gives me a basic cost..
One quick question is your car 5 years old yet.. As the price for the warranty is the price before it reaches its 5th birthday because after 5 years its a little bit more..
yes your right......if you renew the warranty after the cars 5th birthday then you can only get the reduced cover warranty which also costs more......i could in fact renew on the premium warranty for 2 years at a cost of £2720One quick question is your car 5 years old yet.. No i had to give it up two months, or the renewal would have been after it's 5 birthday (and i would have the lower warranty). I plan on keeping it for another year and then moving her on (that's why i went for the two year premium warranty)
might be worth a phone call to Aston Martin extended Warranty deptI had the guys from Aston come out to my car at the dealership (healthcare check). He looked into it, and asked the warranty department, if they could put the premium warranty on it two months after it 5 birthday (due to it having premium warranty on it all ready). They said no it must be before. So Aston have confirmed to me, that the warranty must be in place before it's birthday. When i went to the dealership to do the paperwork, they showed me the system that does the warranty. It would not allow him to enter premium warranty the day after it's 5th birthday, so i would check your dealer has it right.
If the car was 2 1/2 years old when the dealership sold it, they would then top up the remaining 6 months orginal warranty with a further 6 months so that they sell the car with a full 12 months warranty. This waranty would then run out when the car was 3 1/2 years old......or am i wrong ?
In the case of a used car, if the dealer is adding to the end of the factory warranty, it may, in fact, be a warranty from the dealer specifically, not from Aston themselves. If that is the case with this example, than from the factory's perspective, its out of warranty for 6 months and just covered by the dealership (or some company the dealer got it through).
You have to look really close at the paperwork when getting warranties like that to see exactly what you are getting.

I find that hard to belive.........if you buy a Aston from a main dealer with a 12 month warranty then warranty work can be carried out at any dealerYou have to look really close at the paperwork when getting warranties like that to see exactly what you are getting.
You find it hard to believe what a used car salesman does? Think about that for a second.
I've even seen where someone thought they had bought a "Certified Car" which included extended warranty, but there was none and the factory had no record of such a thing. Luckily they happened to find out a couple of days later, by accident, when talking to another dealers service department about the car, and "resolved" the situation. He was much more lenient with them than I would have been.
Don't assume anything, read the fine print of what you're buying.
