Cant understand people who expect owners to "show their cars " so organisers can finantialy gain. Without owners putting up with little brats grubby paws all over their cars, there would not be a show or any gain at all.

Just received a large scrratch across the top of the Vanquish wing after a charity show at the weekend, although it was for a good cause.

Exibitors should always go free without them there would`nt be any gain for organisers. exploitation at its best.

totally agree with above......dunno why i should pay to display my car , to draw in the punters.....a voluntary donation should be sufficient and could possibly raise more money......let alone all the money spent on useless side shows...

perfectly reasonable........the organisers want me to drive my 116k car to a show which will cost me £70 in petrol so that the great unwashed can scatch it and...... they will only chage me £7......

How wonderful whistle

just had a peep and it appears to be a privately owned business, not a national trust type charity.
i've just had a cracking idea,i hereby invite all owners of exotica to come and park up in the carpark of my "period" meat processing plant in the heart of liverpool's industrial area.the fee will be only £5 per vehicle and i will have a van selling hot dogs and burgers at extortionate rates incase the people who are fortunate enough to be selected to display their p&j can't be bothered to bring a picnic.to find out if you are one of the lucky few to be selected please pm me as soon as you can.remember the slots closest to the bone bins will fill up fast and display vehicles are accepted on a strictly first come first served basis.

sorry,couldn't resist!!!!

michael, you've got it in one!!you see now i can make double profits by getting the wholesale manufacturers margin AND the retail margin as well.the real star attraction will be the factory tour!!you can take a peek behind the scenes and see exactly how the hot dog you are about to eat has been made!a snip at a fiver for the hot dog(condiments extra, naturally)and a fiver for the tour.all in all 15 quid for the lot and i won't even charge you for any additional passengers in your vehicle!!!(except the tour and hot dog which will be full fare)

You made me look it up! Cheeky tts - owned by the same family since 1140, and they want us to contribute to the 'Restoration Fund'. There's a Queen Anne mansion in the grounds along with the Castle!!
You can hire the castle for weddings etc so doesn't sound like it needs restoring.

I need the kitchen 'restoring' if you all could pop round with a tenner each it will be appreciated - won't even make you park next to the bins wink

Sometimes I think I am in the wrong business

Blimey, you Aston owners are a cynical bunch.

Finding nice locations for meets is quite hard and Hedingham Castle is a great venue. If we were to hire the whole place out and make it a private meet, the entrance fee would be significantly more. As it is, it's only £7 and that includes car, driver and all passengers and regardless of whether it is privately owned or a charity, the income from these events goes towards the upkeep of the Castle and the grounds. I could of course have organised a meet at a Tesco car park which would have been free, but somehow I doubt many of you would have turned up anyway and you'd only moan about shopping trolleys scratching your cars. biggrin

Also, as the organiser, I don't make a penny from it. On the contrary, whilst you lot are moaning about paying £7, I've spent about £150 of my own money on marketing the event plus countless hours organising it.

Last year we had over 110 Ferrari's/Lamborghini's in attendance and we didn't have any problems or complaints and many of the cars that attended were worth considerably more than £116,000.

It's a shame though, as it would have been nice to see some Astons on the day.

I must confess I've displayed my TVRs at a few events but I've never paid to do so... Think that is a bit of an odd idea, I can perfectly understand charging an entrance for the great unwashed (which would be me in this case!) but not those who give up their time to display the car to attract the unwashed..

OK, I admit I am now confused. Is it:-
a) organised meet exclusively for Supercars and their owners, with a £7.00 entrance fee
b) a 'charity' type event where Joe Public is invited along (pays more than the Supoercars) turns up and wants to look at all the cars, touch 'em, scratch 'em, generally be an pain in the arse, but have paid more than the displaying Supercars?

Two very different events, apologies if I guessed wrong from the information supplied.

PS - you don't need Tony Hall's reg no, just look around this site - he's is the one with all the photos! smile

Neil, the public do turn up, but they are quite respectful of the Supercars that park up on the day. As I've already said, we didn't have any problems last year. Everyone was very well behaved and it's probably safer parking it there than it is on the street.

The Public park in a different part of the grounds and pay a different amount.

Prices taken from the website:

Admission:
Adults £8.00
Concessions £7.00
Children £6.00
Family - £28.00

Supercar owners only pay £7 for entry and includes car, driver and passengers.

Do Aston & TVR owners go to these type of events events below? As far as I'm aware you have to pay to get in and it's also open to the public.

Auto Italia at Brooklands,
Auto Italia at Stanford Hall,
Gaydon Supercar day,
Goodwood Festival of Speed,
Goodwood revival,
Silverstone Classic,

Haven't AMOC asked for people to pay for some events? Windsor? Was Blenheim free?

I'm not sure why people are so up in arms. If you don't like it, don't go. Headingham is a lovely location.

I won't be there but mainly because I will be several hundred miles away.
