DB9 Servicing questions
Discussion
My car is in for a service at the moment. They collected the car last Wednesday, and I don't know when they will return it. How long should a standard service take?
Also, I have just had a phone call from the dealer saying that the front pads and disks need to be replaced. I'm not too surprised about the pads, but I am surprised about the disks. The car has done 18,000 miles, and I would expect the disks to last longer than that.
The car is driven a bit enthusiastically from time to time, and has done two track days.
TIA

tell them that you will replace the disks and pads yourself.......most main stealers use the brake option as a nice little earner.....plenty of pads and disc's on e bay .....was told mine needed replacing.....got a mechanic friend of mine to check em...and was informed that i had at least another 10 k in them.....if they are more than 1/3 worn...dealers want to replace em.....
as for the service.....1 day tops......any longer than that i suspect a salesman has been chatting up the local trollop and has been taking her out for spins..!!!!!!

1 / 2 days for a service at a main dealer max. Chase them up, put a rocket up the service advisor. If its an Aston main dealer you will be charged a premium rate so expect / demand a premium service.
The last time that it was in they needed a rocket to get on with the job. I haven't pushed them this time just to see what would happen.I won't be using them again.

why o why do dealers try and rip us off with discs and pads.......my Honda went in to have a small paint job done under warranty and I asked them to look at the breaks whilst it was in.....they rang me to say the pads were down to the riverts and it had damaged the discs (£245). went to the dealer to take a look myself as the car had only been serviced 3000 miles earlier with no mention of a brake pad problem. The pads were indeed worn but not down to the rivers and there was nothing wrong with the discs. the service manager backed off very quickly and they just changed the pads (£95).
As a good friend of mine in the trade told me ......its the service managers job to maximise the profit from each and every car that crosses his garage forcourt.

My car sometimes sits at the dealer for weeks. I think they do tend to relax... Just phone them or visit and Have a tea with them .. They dont tend to have biscuits so take your own.. You will soon have your car back..
I'm going to leave it until tomorrow morning - and then they will receive both barrels. I'm interested to see just how bad they can be, but I can't hold out much longer. I need my regular "fix" behind the wheel.Edited by sharky67 on Tuesday 6th July 14:15

Not a dealer beginning with S?
I have had several run-ins with their tt of a service manager (name begins with G). Keeps the car too long. Never gives updates. Tried to bill me for two new front tyres that the car did not need (six months ago and it is still nowhere near needing them).

No, it begins with "H".I have had several run-ins with their tt of a service manager (name begins with G). Keeps the car too long. Never gives updates. Tried to bill me for two new front tyres that the car did not need (six months ago and it is still nowhere near needing them).
I assume that it is now too late for them to deliver it back today.
I am going to the AMOC meeting (area 21) tonight. I'll have to park my old DD around the corner. Oh the shame of it!

This is the third time that the car has been to them, and each time I had to apply pressure to get them to speed up. This time I thought that I would see what happened if I didn't apply pressure. Clearly, they run the business beyond full stretch and there is no need to do this when your margins are high.

Well as I discovered they do read the posts on here, so hopefully someone will read this trail realise its them and get you sorted quickly.
I phoned them an hour ago, and they told me that I would get the car back today. Five minutes later I received a text message to say that the tracker alarm had gone off. The tracker was the main reason that the car was booked in in the first place.I phoned to find out why the tracker hadn't been sorted and received excuses that proved that they hadn't been listening when I explained the problem in the first place. It appears that it is the tracker that has gone faulty. They are assuming that it is the tags, because the tags are a known problem - so they haven't even looked at the tracker.
EDIT. It may be the tags after all.
Grrrr....
