Hello all

I'm hoping for some help/insight from anyone with experiance purchasing used AM from an official dealer recently. I'm looking to convert to 2007 V8V ~£50k from the Porsche stable and was wondering:

1) what type of flexibility i should expect on the asking price, is 5% reasonable? and

2) if dealers prove to be less flexible on the price what have other forum uses managed to get thrown in with the deal at this pricing level i.e extra warranty, servicing, new tyres, AM driving day...etc

Thanks in advance

Allen

Allen,

That's the model I have ( '07 V8V ) - and speaking to the dealer the other day (Grange, Exeter) the view was that he could sell every one he could get, they are currently the Aston of choice as for his customers looking to buy a used model.

Probably not good news from your point of view - sorry. The good news is that once you have one (and taken fuse 22 out) it's a fantastic car !!!

Good luck with the negotiations,

Chris

If its from an Authorised dealer demand everything to be perfect - new tyres if required, paintwork immaculate, alloys perfect, and if its coming to the end of the 3 year warranty - then extended warranty included in price. Ensure its serviced then you don't have to worry for a year

PS and get them to take Fuse 22 out!

Interesting as I just bought a 58 4.7 V8VR from them I got 5.3% off the asking price plus a load of niggles sorted, a service, 4 tyres, 4 wheels refurbed, laser alignment and the rear bumper resprayed. They also did a deal on fitting clear rear lights. This is all in the best month of the year for roadster sales of any make. Haggle hard and be prepared to walk away.

Without searching through the forum, what does Fuse 22 do/not do?

Makes it louder. Opens valves as if you had reached 4000 revs. Glorious sound and a must have.

disables the flap in the exhaust that keeps the noise down under 4k revs to meet noise regs

...makes it sound like a Spitfire when you start it up...and all the time smile

its fuse 22 in the boot fuse box though, not the under bonnet one...remove that and your engine wont start LOL

Just an idea but try and find an AM dealer that is part of a larger group that includes a Porsche franchise - will allow dealer go give a better price...

That does sound like a good deal.

From what I heard lately from a couple of independant dealers most if not all seem to struggle to find quality used cars, but most will move slightly on the price.

I say this though as not a customer, but knowing people in the trade.

Yeah that Standard-Triumph 1500cc lump was something else. Especially with the twin pipe Triumphtune exhaust.

This is the experience I had buying my 06 V8V late last year. But then I did as Neil1300R suggests and the dealer will have spent a fortune on preparing it for me by the time I was finished - there wasn't a mark on it. Although it was 3.5 years old at the time, I also got 12 months warranty, which I think is standard from the dealer. It still makes my face ache from grinning and can't begin to comprehend what I would change it for.

There always seems to be new stock coming through, so maybe if you walk away from a couple of deals and wait for the perfect spec from your point of view they might budge. My problem was once I'd driven one I had to have it then and there!

Agreed V8VDan

It is very difficult not to enter the "desire to own" zone when you drive one particularly if the dealer is cunning enough to get you to open up on your test drive in a tunnel... No going back.

Good luck OP with your quest.

You make it sound as if the car had been totalled!

All part of the negotiation
They would not move any further on price
So we then went on to get ALL the niggles sorted!
