Larini, Tubi or Quicksilver ?
Discussion
Rick, if you are dropping past, could you offer technical comments... Do the sports cats offer a better flow of exhaust due to fewer cells and less back pressure ?
Its difficult to get a really good idea of sound from the video / you tube clips.
Cheers,
Ian

yes there is ,its only just being launched as we speak so not pics etc. From what i can gather its the best of both worlds as it still retains the valves etc,but also sounds sportier.but the big bonus is that when it is fitted we also update your engine software map to work more efficiently with the reduced pack pressures etc,so i'm guessing here but i suspect there may be a small but noticable power increase into the bargain.
The Aston sports exhaust that has just been released is for the N400 09 and 10 model years and the 4.3 that has had the power upgrade to take account of the modified map for these, the price is just under £1700.00 including vat,
Sports cats do give a good performance boost but carefully balancing the rear box as noise levels can become an issue, as for which system they all offer around the same gains, all are made out of similar materials and all offer a weight saving, so preference on the sound is really the main choice, for a cat back system miltek seems to me the best sound without being to intrusive but other people do want them louder which gets into the realms of supersports
just a few questions,
1, are you looking for sound or performance
2, if sound how loud( like fuse 22 out or louder)
3, would it bother you to be able to continually hear the exhaust when cruising,

As Rick said, if you're going to go for the extra performance of cats, you need to consider which exhaust to match up with it. Many of the systems haven't been designed with this in mind, but there certainly are some options available which have been specifically designed to pair up with catalysts and produce an appropriate sound level. Thanks Rick,
I have owned a 4.3 vantage for 6 months and loved it, and now a new 2010 4.7 for 3 months. Without a doubt, the 4.7 is a quieter exhaust than the 4.3. I don’t understand why, it just is, and I believe other owners have found the same ?
I have run the current car with fuse 22 out and to be honest, it only makes a very small difference inside the car. There is more noise from road / tyres at cruising speed than exhaust or engine noise. Only when you start to pull 3,500 revs and above whilst pushing on, do you get any audible sound from the engine / exhaust. Yes, I’m sure it makes more exhaust noise below these revs outside the car (with fuse 22 out).
To answer your questions:
1: I’m looking for more sound (but not boy racer), with that, I believe there will be some power increase due to more free flow of exhaust gases, but that is not the goal.
2: I would like an exhaust note louder than with Fuse 22 removed.
3: At the moment, at cruising speed, the most noise comes from tyres / road. To over come that, I just increase the volume of the music system. So the exhaust would have to be really quite load to hear it at cruising speed above the current road / tyre noise.
At the moment, I quite like the combination of Larini Sports exhaust with sports cats, but I would really like to hear it first on a 4.7 Vantage before committing.
I would also like to know a bit more about the factory option.
Cheers,
Ian
