Sorry - I know that this topic has been done to death, but the search function is (really!) not working on PH this morning....

Can anyone give me an indication on cost for a 4yr service (car registered in Mar 06)? My understanding was that a 4yr service was a light one due to the three year cycles (am not sure where i saw this though..)

Also - the locking system seems to be playing up (it appears to lock but frighteningly doors are left open despite the alarm appearing to go on when i click on the fob). I take it that this is covered under warranty? Similarly, the seat belts have started to fray.. is this also covered?

many thanks in advance

PS: Rick - i was planning on using this opportunity to come up to Derby... however I dont think I have a free weekend between now and the warranty running out at the end of July - will PM you to see what your availability is like.

Known 'fault' with the design of the seatbelts and the annoying leather strap on the seat. Got told on mine it was not covered on the extended warranty as it was 'soft furnishings!'. Had a lively discussion with both the dealer and then the Warranty company, who eventually agreed that the main safety feature of the car (i.e. seatbelt) would be covered.

Be prepared to phone up the Warranty company yourself and argue the case

A four year service is one of the largest services done on a V8 , some of these very cheap prices quoted , i would be a bit worried about , as i would question what they do and what parts they use.

I can do a 4th year (dealer service)for Around the £800 mark , and also offer free collection and delivery , as well as Loan car if needed and complimentary Valet.

I am also just outside London and can address your other issues under warranty.

I am confused by your comments......are you a main dealer ? and which quotes on this topic should we be a bit worried about ?

Just had mine done in May at a well known and respected Derby based independent for <£550. Top job as ever, car running brilliantly. You get those little extra nice touches as well, like the centre of the brake discs repainted. I can't do a direct comparison to a dealer service, but I can't fault the service (car and customer) I had.

on mine, for £550 I watched them follow the AM schedule, do it all, use original OE parts, oil etc, then do some extra bits too

this is "up north" though - these cheap northern monkeys dont charge £100+vat an hour labour for 5.5 hours before they get started LOL wink

in comparison, the most expensive London dealer I found was £145+ vat per hour - thats £940 of a labour inc vat, before parts !

most main dealers also do the little extras like painting hubs etc.
