Have had my DB9 for 6 months now, and several people have said about removing 'fuse 22' to make it sound better. Will this invalidate my warranty or effect the way the car runs? Or will it just make it sound better? Don't want to do anything that will create a problem!! Any advice welcome!

There is a trade off having the fuse out permanently with a noticeable reduction in torque for those first 4k of revs as documented over on AMOC. However, most would agree it's a price worth paying although getting a switch fitted gives you the best of both worlds.Steve*B said:

They must have ultra sensitive backsides as I never noticed anything. There is a trade off having the fuse out permanently with a noticeable reduction in torque for those first 4k of revs as documented over on AMOC. ...
I would love to see proper, empirical back to back tests to prove this. Both seeing the same car before and after, and seeing two cars go head to head on a road
My guess is that the real world differences are so small as to be inconsequential.

Murph, stop being tight and get the switch fitted you'll notice it then 'Noticeable' means you notice it though having to stop the car between the 'in and out' means you're less likely to perceive any change. Back to back has already been carried out, check out the thread

....and made a difference of 0.2 of a second to 100KM/HR
Not a huge difference but perceptible
Actually, I must be getting old because I'm beginning to agree with the sentiments of another poster over on AMOC when he said 'Uncorked, the noise is very muscle car V8 and much less exotic'. To me, it's definitely more of a truck-like exhaust note than a tuned V8 at low revs and you do actually appreciate the exhaust note more at 4k revs when it's still corked.
Rick, any news on the release of Astons own sports exhaust? They were working on it as long ago as November last year.

it is much less noticeable on the 9 compared to the Vantage but you should do it anyway Steve*B said:

Would go and run my own tests but wouldn't be able to put up with the smell of the clutch being abused!

Something doesn't add up - to do fast 0-100KM/H you need lots of revs right from the start - car would never be below 4000rpm during a run so exhaust valves open all the time.

Exactly.Would go and run my own tests but wouldn't be able to put up with the smell of the clutch being abused!
You'd more likely notice improvements in the torque curve during in gear acceleration. And even then, I reckon any theoretical advantage of having fuse 22 in would be massively overturned by simply dropping down a cog.
Still, however people want to justify spending a few hundred quid and bdising their steering column is fine by me
