Cant find a great deal of information on this via search, so thought I'd ask about on here.
How do people find this system on the AMV8? I've had good experience before with Tubi, but Larini seems popular on this car also.

Car not noisy enough with fuse 22, as nice as it is. smile

How much louder is it than standard? Just wondering how it compares with Larini.

lets say from 1 to 10 that the standard exhaust without fuse 22 sounds like a 7.8 and the tubi is like a 9.
i dont know if i make myself clear.
I think you are going to love it. and the first days you are not going to belive how beautifull it sounds.
and since i dont see any Vantage where i live i already forgot how does the original exhaust sounds like in person.
You wont regret it.

I've not compared them back to back. The Tubi's nicely louder than std. Not overbearing, but a good improvement IMO. My dad, who's not really a lover of overly overt cars, followed me back when it was originally installed and thought it sounded awesome...and it's got better with miles (as I experienced with a Tubi on my old 355).

Where are you based? I'm SW London - happy to give you a demo if you're near by.

Also, if you call the UK importers of Tubi, they have noise meter readings of the system against std levels. Though empirical data is only one part of the equation...

Thanks for that information.
I have viewed a youtube clip with the larini system and cats and whilst it sounds gorgeous, not sure if it will be too loud on this car.

Im up North, but will give you a shout if im down your way, much appreciated. smile

Whereabouts up North? I occasionally go home (South Yorks, also got to West Yorks).

Mine has the cats in place - just the back box swapped. Perfectly acceptable in the cabin (the other half certainly doesn't moan smile).

If you're considering cats + exhaust, bear in mind that there are multiple sound levels available depending upon the manufacturer so the setup you've heard might not be the only option if you want to go with cats as well.

Thanks for the offer of that Mr Murph, very kind of you. I may just take you up on it.

I really like the sound of Larini cats and box, but am wondering if it will be too loud for a daily driver. I just dont want a car that drones.
Im guessing that Tubi box and cats from Larini would be mega loud?

the only video I've heard of the Larini box plus cats sounded really metallic sounding, but it was probably a bad clip. I think that a titanium quicksilver system with larini cats may be the way to go. Not sure how the cats from RSC and larini compare, probably pretty similar. The titanium system would at least maximize weight savings. Would there be any advantage to also adding the center section that larini makes ?

I know what you mean, it does sound a bit raspy, which really isnt what im looking for.

I'll probably go with Tubi, then see if its enough, can always add cats at a later date.

I enquired about a titanium Quicksilver exhaust for my DBS.

No thanks.

Anyone have an idea of around how much the Tubi costs for the AMV8?
I had a Tubi on my Gallardo and it was bloody awesome!

Your best bet for a price will be to phone Scuderia Systems. I *think* they are iro 1,600 quid, but you'd need to check (may be more with sterling in the toilet generally of late). Essentially all the decent quality systems are around the same price point I believe.

They're easy enough to fit yourself. Took me about 5hrs in total, but most of that was removing the original system - one or two rusty bolts, plus the original system is massive and heavy. I did mine with no ramps, and on my own etc so it needed jiggling about to get out without knacking anything (including myself - few grazed knuckles mind) smile

What I cant understand is how these companies charge £1500 for cats for the likes of Porsche/Aston, its mad!

Murph, are you intending to do the cats on yours? do you notice any droning on your car with the Tubi fitted?

No to both. It's nicely louder than standard as it is, and I suspect replacing the cats with alternatives may tip it over the edge on the noise front. Am not convinced about claims for lots of extra power for them, so it'd just be extra cost for no gain for me. Maybe they're a bit lighter...

For additional info, in back to back tests on the same rolling road (same day), my car gained 10bhp with the Tubi back box (NOT a rolling road associated with Tubi - in fact I believe they sell their own exhausts, or push Larini). Couldn't tell personally (hardly surprising with no more than around a 2% increase in power-to-weight ratio). But it certainly sounds faster smile

If I were going to go for one of the power upgrade options (AM, Prodrive, Paramount etc), I'd probably have the cats done as part of it (if not included by default). But again, I don't think I'd get any major value out of it - the car's a very quick car anyway for the public road. I'd rather save the cash and put it towards my next car smile

PS On my old 355, Tubi equipped, there was a slight droning at part throttle between 2k and 2.5k revs. It was easy to drive around, but I know it bugged some people. The Aston doesn't exhibit this.

I know...when a good 200 cell sports cat is like £250-300 tops for any other car....and you need two, one would think £700-800 would be more than enough....but no, £750 each that will be as its an Aston...no thanks

I have the Quicksilver Sport system on my V8, and coupled with the AM power ugrade it certainly made a difference to the power and the sound level; without being too intrusive. No booming etc. I had a Tubi on my previous 997Turbo, and have a pair of their Road-sport mufflers on my 993. Quality is excellent-as good as the Quicksilver.
If you want to hear the QS system, I live very close to AM Stratstones Wilmslow!
