But - no B&O and no carbonfibre seats.
Thoughts?
Note - please don't say "hey, if you like it etc." I know all that. I am trying to see if this is offered at sub £100k due to the spec not matching market expectations....
Or is it an ex-journo car?
Thanks in advance....

This is a ex-press car. My neighbours brother worked for Performance Car (before it went under) he had this very car parked outside my garage for a weekend when they had it on a road test. Also it is the one that is in the Top Gear studio just before 'The Ending' film they did. Personally I would steer clear of a car hacked to death by Journos, but saying that this car is built to be hacked to death..
FWIW,
I bought a MY 2010, 900 miler V12V as previously indicated in this forum. The car was a proper AM Press car that did a show and demo or two. The vehicle was then NP Works Prep’ped before going on sale. Apart from the B&O, it was fully loaded with CF seats. If it is a true press car (and the KX09…confirms Sadlerj’s statement) rather than a demo, it should have the Works Prep’ped servicing in the log book etc..
I would not worry too much about it being thrashed by the press. a) is that not what they are built for ? and b) Works should have changed out a lot of stuff….new tyres, new clutch, 10k service, and all the chips before releasing for sale. Best thing to do is look at it and ask all the right questions and get a written guarantee of its history and applicability for a dealer re-sale.
As a general guide – and one I used for negotiating mine, is that the V12V should be no more than 30% premium to an equivalent V8V (MY, Year, Miles.) The options don’t really play that much to the value I find. I would comment that at £100k, and 7,500mi there are better V12’s out there. I would insist at least £3k off before you start negotiating.
Well worth it mind you.

All the press cars are registered around Apr 09 whereas private cars to their first owners are around Oct 09. Also, there is an audio upgrade in the MY10 cars which gives you a better bluetooth phone integration and improved i-pod connection which the press cars don't share (apparently). Other than that i would not be too bothered about the extras except the CB seats are another 4k and the B&O is that as well. Personally I would not bother with the B&O as the premium audio is good but I would not miss the CB seats which are superb. Pay a bit more and get the MY10 would be my advice.
Hi auditt
It is an altogether different drive. Whilst the DBS is a fine GT car the V12 Vantage with identical engine and brakes but lighter and a shorter wheelbase is a true sportcar. See it a bit like a GT3 compared to the Porsche turbo or 4S. The DBS has two suspension settings soft and sports but I found neither of them compelling. The V12 Vantage is just right. It is pretty hard but perfect for the car. This is a car that can be driven on the road (i commute in it daily) but is equally at home on the track. You would not necessarily drive the DBS on the track. It has a tendency to understeer and is altogether a heavier car which excels on long cross continental hoons whereas the V12 Vantage is a more nervous car for the twists and turns. It is horses for courses really. I went from a DB9 to a V12 Vantage as I did not feel that the jump from the DB9 to the DBS was far enough. Other might have another opinion but I think that the V12 Vantage is Astons finest.

Thanks for the written explanation i guess this is what the forums all about. It is an altogether different drive. Ok, interesting. I know a press DBS was sold for £98k, similar miles etc. I would therefore expect that a V12V would trade at a lower price. I'll have to think a bit more.I am a bit wary though - I'd want full details of what has been replaced or repaired. I've seen what journos can do do cars!!! I may give the garage a call and see what's the story
I bought an ex press car wihtout even realising, my fault really. Was a DB9 sports pack in black plate L006. Autocar tested it on youtube, against about5 other supercars. After ownign it 2 weeks, it had to go back for clutch and two new shock absorbers. TBH i didn't care as i had the extended warranty and only planned on owning it a year. Got another DB9 now, there such good motors.
And now it's down to £93k

Pretty heavy drop. Does anyone know the glass monthly book drop for a V12V?

It is an ex press car, does not have a couple of the expensive godies, is probably one of the highest mileage V12s out there and is Magna Red (nothing wrong with the colour in my opinion - just not the run of the mill silver) so I think it is quite understandable that it is not the first V12 Vantage out of the door - hence the discount and probably great value.
In fairness somebody got a billy bargain!!!! It wasnt to my spec and if Im spending that much cash I wouldnt personally compromise on spec for any amount of saving, but not everybody would agree and not everybody would want the same spec as me of course.
A true bargain considering what the car is capable of - Lovely colour too IMHO!
