Anyone getting vibration through the steering wheel, when driving at shall we say motorway speeds?. Feels like a balance issue, but I have heard suggesstions that several cars experience the same.Wondered if its a known issue and known fix

Yes.

Mine is being looked at for exactly the same issue.

I will let you know what the outcome is.

Balancing and alignment have not cured this.

Are you sure you did not hit a pothole during the winter months! I had to get a new wheel as it became buckled for that very reason!

Had this happen to both my Vantages over the years, generally turned out to be pothole damage to the wheel(s), necessitating rim repair.

Thanks for the replies so far. My car is less than 2 weeks old. Frankly I should have agreed to take it bt was persuaded by the "flat spots on your tyres to to the car being in the showroom explanation"
Interesting whoami that rebalancing and alignment hasnt cured it. My car is in for that today.
I sense that is is not an uncommon issue for DBS owners, in which case why can't AM be more forthcoming to help the dealers? These small things can detract from an otherwise wonderful car. If anyone is on here from AM or from a dealer do comment.

Martin,

I'd be interested to hear if it fixes yours.

Also, is your car manual?

If so, there is another issue you might experience regarding a weird whining noise when setting off in first.

Apparently this happens on V12 Vantage too.

Is this when you put into first gear after releasing the clutch?

Yes - a sharp whining sort of sound.

I've seen the technical bulletin which confirms the problem but does not indicate any fix.

Did yours do it too?

I'm told "all the V12 models do that". I've driven several different DBSs and a V12 Vantage and they do indeed all do it. An artifact of the multiplate clutch used on the V12s perhaps..? The answer is of course, simply a more sudden, and brutal, engagement! biggrin

There is a fix! My car is going in on the 17th May at Aston Works under warranty. They say its a ball-bearing assemby unit that needs replacing.

Good luck

My V12 Vantage has the "whining" sound when I take off in first - thanks for the input.

Interesting. Let us know if it works.

The bulletin I was given indicates that there is not a fix at present, although it was dated (if I remember) a couple of months a go.

Cheers

Mine is an auto, so I don't get the whining sound when pulling off, just the steering issue. Will post results next week when the car returns.

quick update - precision balance of the wheels didn't cure the issue, nor did a tyre change. Am waiting to learn what AM suggest next.

Sounds like the wheel has a slight buckle from pot-holes. When balancing see if the rim moves up/down by 5/10mm, this will then confirm above.

Any update on this? Just bought a DBS and I have the wobble problem too. Only seems to be on certain roads or surfaces or at certain speeds though, although tough to pin down.

Mine also has the usual "creak/whine" on pull off in first.

Great. Spoke to my dealer's head mechanic and he said he wasn't aware of any service bulletin out for the creak!

Whoami - Thinks he has seen something! AMW just said they know how to resolve it, which suggest they know something - we will see.
