Why oh why did I start a thread re kerbed wheels last week ???
Yep, whilst trying to avoid one of the cats, my other half, bless him, kerbed the offside front wheel in our drive over the weekend. So now I have answered my original question. It appears, talking to my dealer service that most wheels can be re-furbished by a guy that comes in once a week no problem. My multi spokes apparently have to be sent away. Three days and £176 for one wheel.
Does this seem realistic to you guys or am I being mugged? I expected around £80 but this seems harsh.
I want my car as perfect as possible but should I trust my wheels to an independent or just swallow the cost as I may have a better recourse if there is a problem?

I know of places local to me in Lancashire that would do those wheels for £50 each.
I'd certainly get a few quotes before committing to a higher price.
Unless of course their process is altogether different.. such as blasting the wheel and then powder coating from scratch with a glaze over the top.
I'd definitely ask for details as to which process things will get done by.
For the most part you tend to get what you pay for but that doesn't always hold true.

Rather than the costs of refurbishment i find the whole process of having your wheels refurbished a bore. You either have to take your car somewhere (Lepsons in Kent) or have a spare set of wheels to use whilst you send yours away. The mobile guy might be the solutions but they are not always that reliable in terms of quality.
I've had 5 wheels refurbed and one wheel 'unbent' at Lepsons in Gillingham Kent, on a Porsche and my AMV8. Cant speak highly enough of their work. It takes them 3 days to refurb a wheel, and they can show you around the place and explain what they do and why it takes 3 days. My next door neighbour now takes his cars to them after my recommendation. Just had a wheel refurbed on my Aston and it was £100+VAT (£10 more if the pressure sensor needs to be replaced). By constrast, a guy at work paid £50 for a 'man in a van' to visit and 'do' a wheel. Did not look so good, and a few months later, looked a lot worse! When I bought my Aston the front wheels needed a refurb, and when I said it was £200 to get them done, the seller said he could get it done for £100, and I stupidly let him do it bfore I picked it up. The job was crap and the wheels started to flake paint within 2 weeks - hence I ended up back at Lepsons to get the job done properly.
