Spotted a V12V in Exeter
Discussion
I test drove a V12 Vantage from Grange Aston Martin at Exeter last Friday. 6 litre , 510 BHP.
VERY quick. On a par with a 996 GT3 which I sold just after Christmas.
The car was fitted with Pirelli Corsas which are not that useful on a wet road ( it was pouring down at the time ) , so I couldn't really throw the car around very much, but I must say that my initial observations on the car are that it is superb.
But then it should be for £146,000 !

Are you having a laugh....
The AM V12 is soooo much quicker that an 996 GT3!!
Maybe test drive one in the dry next time.
You must have had a huge pay rise/won the lottery if you can afford to step up from an old 911 GT3 to a £146k Aston.
Maybee compare the Aston V12 Vantage to a new 997 GT2!!
That may be a fair comparisment.
See here for 996 GT3 http://www.fastestlaps.com/car45ca55316856e.html
See here for V12 Vantage, http://www.rsportscars.com/aston-martin/2010-aston...
So much quicker ? I don't think so.
Have you ever driven a 996 GT3 on track ?
Here is the Autocar test between the 997 GT2 and V12 Vantage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8EPRWLPhWk
The V12 Vantage lost.
Here are lap times at the Nurburgring for the GT2 . It did it in 7.32.02.
Can't find a time for a V12 Vantage.
The V12 performance is also outperformed by a standard 997 GT3 . See here for details.http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/911/911-gt3/
As first mentioned the V12 is nearer a 996 GT3 .
Sorry !

I drove past the Grange today, I see they have a couple! VERY quick. On a par with a 996 GT3 which I sold just after Christmas.

Do you live i Exeter?? I tried to send you an email to ask you for the biggest favour in the world, but it wouldn't allow me to send one.

No, I live in Plymouth !
Hmm, just close enough!Basically I'm looking for an Aston to drive away from my wedding this Sept, But trying to hire one living in the southwest is a nightmare!! They want silly money for the car hire, then most want an extra 400pounds to deliver/collect! plus I don't need the car for the whole weekend,(as they won't do 1 day hire on weekends) I just want to drive from the church in Pinhoe, in Exeter, to Canonteign Falls(about a 15/20min drive) then a pic! I am saving really hard for this, as for me it's the most exciting bit of the day(apart from getting married!!) I would drive the car with the most care possible, my fiancee hates me driving the speed limit on most roads let alone over it! You could follow there to see how careful I am, or drive infront.
I kow it's a HUGE favour to ask, & I'm sure you're thinking 'this guy can sod off!' but It would make my day. I would obviously pay you, I'm hoping to have around 6/700pounds, you could drive my TVR out there if you like to keep as insurance!
please pm me if you are considering it.
Tony
