DB9 Immobiliser - Thatcham approval?

Hi Graham talk to your dealer they will be able to provide with a security document which will sort out this issue, heard this many times and once they get a copy of the document they will be able to proceed, The document can be downloaded from the Aston Martin Tech info site but costs £70.00 for a one day subscription, where as most dealers will supply this info free of charge,

I have just done this and got a document but it states 07MY when mine was a 56 plate. The local dealer says this shouldnt make any difference though as the late plate cars are the same as the next year ones (IYSWIM!!).
Any-hoo I have sent it on to the insurer together with the main line dealer chap's email address and suggested that they contact AM if they need further clarification

They are correct and as it states 07 my (model year)not registration year, If required let me know and i will email you a covering letter as well, We have done this many times with no problems,

Here's an interesting tale...
So, further to the above on this thread:
To start with the insurance broker sent me a letter saying that the DB9 alarm/immobiliser is not Thatcham approved so the insurer will not cover it. Therefore I should contact XYZ Company (name changed) to get a quote to upgrade my alarm...and make sure to mention their name (the insurance broker, that is) to get a discount. My thoughts were that this cannot possibly be right for any number of reasons, hence my posting on here etc
So, I obtained a letter from A-M detailing all the security features of the DB9 covering alarm,immobiliser and tracker. The letter explains that the tracker is Thatcham Cat 5 approved but makes no reference to the alarm and immobiliser being Thatcham approved.
I send it off to the insurance broker - happy days!
Not so, says the insurance broker. The alarm/immobiliser is only Cat 5 (NB factually untrue as Cat 5 refers to trackers and not alarms/immobilisers) and the insurer needs Cat 1.Again they refer me to XYZ Company to get an upgrade but this time tell me that if I dont get it sorted in 7 days the insurer will withdraw the theft protection.
Blood starting to boil here as I dont need the insurance until 21st March when the old one runs out plus I am a new customer and starting to think that none of this is worth the hassle (e.g. never had problems before; nobody else reported problems; not going to modify my DB9 etc etc).
I contact XYZ Company just to see what they say. VERY helpful chap there has a sensible discussion with me from which it evolves that they
- Cannot upgrade the system to Cat 1 Thatcham due to technical reasons
- Believe that the AM system is SUPERIOR to Thatcham Cat 1 anyway
- Its the same system that is in the Jag XKR which has Thatcham Cat 1 approval
- Believe that the only reasons the AM system is not registered with Thatcham is due to smaller production volumes
Could you possibly put that in writing to me if possible (bearing in mind there is no business in it for you)? says I!! Certainly says the very nice man and does.
I fire this off to insurance broker who return with another letter saying that now they have all the information they need to cover me! HUZZAH...says I !!
I have actually emailed them and asked that they SPECIFICALLY state that they do not now need Thatcham Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser cover as they are satisfied that my system more than covers it!
An ever so slightly farcical episode which has got the right result but only after some effort, I'm sure you will agree!!
