Hi all, new V8V owner here
Discussion
Hi all you Aston fans and owners. I have lusted after a V8 Vantage since they first came out but have never been able to afford one...........until now!
Its a Roadster in Onyx black with Obsidian Black interior, black hood and black wheels and i just love it to bits.
I have a question for other V8V owners, do you experience a half second or so delay between pressing the throttle pedal and the engine revving up in response? I realise that it is a "fly by wire" system but the delay is really annoying, i find it hard to pull away and i can't heel and toe properly.
My local dealer is looking into it, it is having a new throttle pedal assembly fitted soon and the butterfly looked at. Just wondered if it is a design feature (if it is WHY???) or whether mine does have a fault.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Btw is there any other TVR owners that have bought a V8V?
Cheers

If you're going to have it in black, do it properly!! I had a T350 in the same colours.
Other than the satnav, the delayed response to the throttle pedal is an oft talked about 'feature' (read 'design fault').
Oh, and welcome to the Aston world!
Thanks for the info, if that is the case then the throttle pedal work is not going to cure it.Other than the satnav, the delayed response to the throttle pedal is an oft talked about 'feature' (read 'design fault').

I guess it is in the throttle butterfly map which is much more difficult to alter. Is there anyone out there that can offer a remap without affecting the warranty?

Congrats on the car.
As noted, I very much doubt the throttle work will cure what you experience - they all do it.
That said, I suspect the lag is less than half a second. Just feels like an age if you come from cars with good throttle response. You do get used to it though. Just wear big boots
IMO, the throttle spring needs to be slightly stiffer and the throttle map more aggressive. I reckon if that could be done, the whole car would feel quicker!
There's a new light clutch/flywheel combo that's being developed that may help a bit.
(It's a shame Works Service or someone can't adjust these parameters to suit the individual driver...).

Lovely car Andrew.
You would be surprised at how many TVR converts there are here. I started a thread a while back on that subject which was inundated with current and ex TVR people. Due to stupidity I have no idea how to post a link.
Enjoy the V8V

PS Usual advice, check fuse 22 and remove to increase growl if its still in place. In the boot on a roadster. Also its a personal choice but you may like to consider losing the front number plate back box to achieve a sleeker look. Up to you but both very easy mods.

Little update for you Murph - Apart from the development car, we wanted to get some conclusive testing done so I have a second unit being delivered to a customer in Florida to does a lot of trackdays at Sebring, and has a lot of our other products installed. So in the space of a month or so we should have some feedback from someone taking it out and thrashing the.... well... you know what out of it.

Funny you should mention both those things, the fuse was the first thing on my list, removed on day two and i removed the number plate back box thingy last night. I fitted a small front numberplate in its place, but not sure about it yet. I'll post some pics as soon as it stops raining lol.

I have a lovely Chim 4.0 and am going to visit Gaydon at the end of the month to "sign on the dotted..." for a V12V.
Thing is, when I bought the Chim 10 years ago, I signed in blood to the rest of the family that come whatever, I'd keep the TVR.
So they will both be sharing the garage. I reckon they are such different drives they will compliment each other. I cannot say what owning an Aston will be like, but the few times I've driven one (DB9, V8V and recently V12V) they are amazing cars. The Tiv is wonderfully uncomplicated..and such great fun. I could never sell it!
Anyone else have both an Aston and TVR?

I went from a T350 Red Rose and, yes, you will notice a difference. The V8V is a lot more civilised in how it produces and controls its power compared to the rawness of the T350/Sagaris, which is a lot more immediate. However, I don't regret the change at all, and this from a long time TVR owner (I've had 7 over +++ years). I'd suggest you need to be looking at 4.7s though, as the deficit will be even more noticeable with a 4.3.Cheers
