Anyone suffer from this? When reversing my 2006 V8V and with the steering near or on full lock, the engine loses power, the revs drop and it feels as though it is about to stall. Depress the clutch and the engine bursts back into life with a roar. There is no such problem when moving forwards, only backwards. Kind of embarrassing when maneuvering in a public car park.

I understand that power (torque?) is reduced when reverse is selected (I have no reason to disbelieve that as my car certainly feels that way) but I know nothing about the steering position having an effect. No doubt someone on this forum will know!

Yes mine does that and I have stalled it on occasions - very embarrassing.
Mine is a 2010 4.7 - so it looks like it could be a design feature.
The reverse gear does seem to be a rather unnecessarily high ratio, as does first. It does not make for easy manoeuvring in tight spaces particularly in the cold weather on high tick over.

After nearly 3 years I STILL stall regulary (or have that rank fishy smell from over-revving/slipping the clutch) in reverse !

I think the steering lock thing may just be the extra friction of "sideways" tyres putting a greater load on the engine and clutch

An Aston "design feature" overcome by only ever looking for forward facing parking slots !

When reversing on the flat I don't use the throttle at all especially when the engine is cold, just rely on the tick-over and torque - haven't stalled it yet!

Mine too. Used to have to park my old Z4 in reverse as it hated being left overnight pointing uphill and often struggled to start as a result. Totally the opposite with the V8V though as it's a real struggle to park it on the driveway in reverse so I just don't bother.
The loss of power reversing on steering lock has caught some very experienced drivers out that have had a go in my V8V.. much to their embarrassment. One family member who prided himself on being a real car man stalled it 10 times in quick succession trying to maneuver in a very public car park; he was mortified.
