I'm in the market for a slightly used V12V. Car seams to be in good overall condition, but the drivers seat looks really bad at the outside bolster.

Does Rick or anybody here know what would be the cost for a replacement seat ?

Or would it make sense to let this get fixed by a saddler ? I'm unsure if they would be able to match the factory leather (color, look, stitching). Anybody has some experience with this ?

Thank you all
Martin

Surely you should insist in it being rectified by the dealer. They should be able to either get it looking as good as new or replaced under warranty.

Does the refinishing has to be carried out in Gaydon or can it be done at the dealer ?

To be honest, I was a bit shocked about how the seat looked after just 6 months. Maybe they can fix it under warranty. The dealer is not an official AM dealer itself but belongs to a holding which has two AM dealerships.

V8 Vantage seat is £5K, so I can't see the V12V seat being any less than that.

Absolutely 100% insist that they fix this as part of your purchase (unless you are getting a *lot* of money off the car).

If reconnolising doesn't work, I'm sure it could be recovered.

Easy to scuff seat bolsters, but also easy to learn not to (and to fix the problem). So you have to wonder how the car has been treated generally...

This came to my mind too.... rolleyes My only hope is that the person who owned the car had massive overweight.

The car does not cost so much less than a new one that I would be ready to accept the seat how it looks currently.

I'll take a photo of the seat next time and post it here. I'm really curious what you people think. Maybe it's sort of a general problem with the lightweight seats ?

Any seat bolsters can scuff if the driver rubs his arse down them. Especially when wearing jeans.

It shouldn't be a big deal to get sorted, but bearing that in mind it seems odd that they haven't bothered prior to sale...lazy.

Worst case scenario I would have thought a change of skin.

The mechanical aspects of the chair will be fine - no need to replace. Cant see that being £5k - even at AMWS.

Murph, the car is currently waiting to be prepared for sale. I just wanted to sort out the possible options and costs, should it come to negotiations.

How many miles has it done?

Is it an demonstrator or ex press car?

Surprised, like others, that its worn already.

It is a privately owned car with 3000 miles on the clock.

If the price isn't spotty dog, there is ONLY one option for the seller wink

You can buy them much cheaper from Recaro directly and use an upholster shop to match AM leather.
