A ride in the hot seat
Discussion
Soon after setting off for home in the V8V the other night I noticed that the heated seat was on. Looked down at the switch and, as I had thought, the light was not on, i.e. I had not turned it on. Despite this the seat got progressively hotter, and hotter. Could I be imagining it ? No, I put my hand over the central seam in the seat base and actually burnt my hand; it was like putting your hand over a fresh cup of tea.
Fortunately I was in heavy traffic, so had the opportunity to get out of the car after a few mins, just to give my a75e a break. We are talking seriously hot !
Powered off, waited and turned back on (remembering the advice you always get from software engineers). Sadly it continued to perform a supernova routine beneath me. Not sure how long this went on as my rear-end eventually lost all sense of feeling, but my one hour trip home was very sweaty and uncomfortable. The following day, as I had anticipated, the heated seat no longer worked.
So is this a classic symptom of failure, is it like a dwarf star piling out all its remaining power in one last glorious explosion, or do they usually just stop working ?

Sorry shouldn't laugh but now got this mental picture of man stuck in traffic jumping out of his Aston holding his a75e and running around like some comedy character! If you look under your seat you will have a row of plugs, if you have 1 stage heated seats you will have a black plug with 2 wires coming out it, if you have a 2 stage heating you will have a white plug with 3 wires coming out. You could dissconect the plug till u can get to a dearler. I think you will have a earth issue, as the switch just gives the circuit its ground.
